  • An unknown amount of time. Should be within 14 days, might be sooner.

    • No probs, thanks for the reply.

It's been just over 2 weeks. I'll wait another week to see how it goes.

Qantas says 14 days if QFF earned via partner airlines.
Emirates says only after the flight has occurred, so I'm getting conflicting info.

      We'll see!

You wont get points until you fly.

        • Makes sense, thanks Agarwal!

@sssbp: Also there is a fair chance you won't get points after you fly either. Be prepared to chase them.

There is a form to fill on for QF missing points. Make sure you keep your boarding pass.

        • Will do,thanks scozbargain

Second that, points will only be received after the flight, incase you decide to cancel, they wouldn't want to give you the points for no reason.

Also FYI you’ll probably get a relatively tiny amount of points if you booked the cheapest ticket. Cheap tickets don’t earn much to begin with and then qantas gives less points when you fly on their partners (like emirates) than on themselves. IRC I got about 3000 points for a return trip to Europe.

    • Ah, good to know. I chose Emirates cause they gave free seat selection compared to the exact same flights, but via Qantas, where they didn't

Next time I'll book via Qantas

Exact same flight on Qantas ticket will most often be $100+ more expensive before seat selection fee.
If you don't fly much and don't have "credit card" qantas points you might as well sign up for Emirates Skywards. You can use skywards credit to buy a chocolate at Dubai duty free or maybe try Ski Dubai (start redeeming ski dubai at 5,000 Miles).
You can pool miles into a family account (so you might have enough for something useful) and earn skywards credits flying Jetstar and others.
        Skywards miles last 3 years.
