  • better than some other options which don’t have a stainless steel bowl at this price point, especially if living in 1 or 2 person household and only cook small batches.

Thanks OP. Let’s hope this starts the rounds for the other two again. I got the 5.7l and I would recommend that size. Particularly if you are thinking about using it for Yogurt or cakes where pot in pot is best used.

  • Need a deal on the 8L.

Last time they reduced the 3L price the other two were dropped in price shortly afterwards so I would keep checking the Amazon website price.

I love my Instant Pot! I got the 5 litre on Boxing Day. Haven't successfully made a cake in it yet though - my carrot cake attempt following an IP recipe from a library book resulted in carrot pudding. It tasted okay though.

    • What sort of cake tin did you use? From what I’ve read you do end up with a denser moister cake.

      • I used a non stick 7cm long tin I bought specially from House and put it on top of the little trivet that came with the IP.

        • Thanks. I got a 7cm one from Myers, will give it a shot with a chocolate cake. I figure moist and fudgy will work OK for chocolate. What setting did you use?

          • @try2bhelpful: The manual high pressure setting for 25 mins. I put some water in the bottom of the pot, then the trivet, then the cake pan on top of the trivet.

  • Good brand, I'd purchased mine overseas.

As of 2019 instapot is owned by Corelle so expect to see more promotions, especially if they try to get market share from Philips, etc.

    Correlle at DFO stock these

    • They did have the stock, last time I was there, but they don’t seem to have the discount anymore. Worth a phone call though.

    • They not much cheaper then amazon price at DFO in brisbane

      • Not much cheaper, however is it cheaper though? we on Ozb are wanting the cheapest price not the 'second' cheapest.

        • well not as cheap as the ozbargain prices recently

Hopefully the 8L will have a similar discount soon. It was $199 delivered around Christmas.

    • ive been waiting lol

  • Are these good for making Thai chicken curries? I don't know much about cooking.

    • +1

You could use it in slow cooker mode for that but the real problem is getting the smell out of the pressure cooker seals. It might be worth getting the glass lid for the slow cooker mode. Personally I do my Thai chicken in a non stick wok and allow it to simmer. The chicken doesn’t need pressure cooking. Have you tried the Tailors Red Thai curry pack from Woollies?

  • Family of 2. Me and my 12yo daughter. Should i get this one or the next size up.

    • +2

The 3L capacity is really little. I'll say you're better off getting the next size up. Furthermore if you're using the pressure cook function you're not supposed to fill it more than 2/3 full.

    • +1

I am single so am planning on getting this, there are plenty of reviews/videos comparing the two.

    • I would get the next up to do pot in pot like Yogurt and cakes.

    This or the Philips?

    • +1

This is smaller then the philips

    • +1

      Philips

    • Philips Viva does everything I have every wanted it to do. I can't see how this is better

Awesome deal, waiting on the 5.7l to go on special.

    • Same here.

  • Wonder if they will release the instant pot smart version in australia

  • Thanks. Just bought 3L one. I hope it would be ok for a family of 3. Mostly cooking rice/lentils but like the versatility of Instant Pot.

    • Might be small for that requirement

  • Is it worth also buying the glass lid and a spare pot for anyone that’s already got one of these?

    • +1

I got the glass lid. It is good for the Yogurt because you can see it. It is, probably, good for slow cooked curries because the smell won’t get in the seal.
