Where Does Your Employer Offer You Discounts/Benefits?

I am in the process of expanding the discounts/offerings provided by my employer.

To date, we have now partnered with a health fund provider.

I am currently looking into additional offerings, such as Glasshouse, Virgin Active, DELL etc.

Hoping people can share what is popular at their workplace.

TIA

    look into fitness passport

    • Thanks - have just submitted an enquiry

    • Love my fitness passport! I work in 2 different cities from time to time so having the ability to go to gym/the pool/yoga at both locations with one pass that is cheaper than a single gym is just awesome.

      Keeps me happy and healthy.

    • Their response: Fitness Passport works with large (predominately public sector) employers to assemble corporate fitness programs. Unfortunately, due to demand for our service, we are not in the position to discuss further the opportunity of running a Fitness Passport program for your workplace in the private and/or non for profit sector.

    • Yep, been using this for a couple years now, such good value.

  • Many mining companies have IT (dell etc), and cars (toyota).

O&G had a social club with both alcoholic and non alco events severly discounted..

I will never join a gym, so i dont see the benefit in that.

    • Oh yes - good idea. Will look into corporate discounts with car companies and we have a Social Club which needs some work!

      • usually its combined with an already existing corporate contract.

If you're just cold calling car companies, i think you'd just get a standard deal that has no value

  • Salary sacrifice?

    Entertainment Book ?

  • We do salary sacrifice for super only.
Entertainment Book is offered via social club but also not as popular due to new apps such as EatClub.

  • We only receive discount on the products we manufacture plus discounts from manufacturing partners who use our products in their own.

Many have deal with Home User Program with Microsoft.

The HUP is now so crap compared to buying Office and Visio for $16.50 to keep for life.

      • oh yes, forgot about that.
I managed to snatch the full Office Professional 2019 a couple of months before Microsoft stopped selling it.

        • +1

Well done….I should have done that as well but I wasn't able to work out the instructions provided by an Ozbargain contributor.

      • It’s sooooo crap now! Generally you can pick up the office suite on sale cheaper than the 30% you get from HUP (thanks to OzBargainers)

      • Better off just installing 365 at home,. and signing in with your work credentials, and using your home PC as one of your 5 machines you can use… good for as long as your employed or your employer keeps up their O365 subs.

Discounted gift cards (major stores such as JB HI-FI, Woolworths, Coles etc.)

    • Are these offered directly with the retailer or via third party?

      • +2

Third party via Reward Gateway is a popular

  • Corporate health insurance plans that are able to be deducted from payroll (post tax unfortunately) but it’s one less thing to remember to pay! My company gets deals with HCF and BUPA.

Also salary sacrifice for cars (I think it’s Fleetcare and another one of the major ones we can use).

Also we can use the HUP but you have to have a large number of employees for it and it’s not worth it now thanks to O365.

In previous employers it was always generous staff discounts on our products and services, as well as subsidised (so cheaper) canteen / lunch options.
Discounted movie tickets, gym memberships or anything to help promote work / life balance would be a good option.

    • Sounds like we might be doing alright!

    • don't know about BUPA.
It's relatively the most expensive private health insurance.
My previous company offered 8% discount on Medibank corporate plan plus free excess.

  • My workplace has (or in some cases had in the past):
    - private health (a couple of providers as sometimes the best value is different at different levels of cover)
    - Banking - the bank that my work uses had an offer for better mortgage rates/waived fees, and a fee waiver on certain credit cards. You might be able to negotiate better directly in some cases though
    - Reward Gateway membership for gift cards etc
    - A special discount for accommodation with one of our preferred providers
    - We used to have access to the corporate qantas club rates
    - Access to novated leasing for cars
    - Access to discounted mobile plans (but tbh there’s better deals through mvnos)

  • We have cost price for employees for the products we sell.

We also use Reward Gateway Employee Benefits programme (has a portal/URL specific to our company) and most Aussie retailers are on there with pretty good discounts and vouchers you can print. Often our company will give employees a reward, say $1000, and instead of giving cash it will be in the Reward Gateway and you can print a voucher for whatever store you want, like JB HI-Fi, for example. And it could also be something like $1000, but if you print the voucher you get $1100. You can also buy gift cards at a discount, there is a lot of choice.

    Link to Reward Gateway: https://www.rewardgateway.com/au/solution/employee-benefits-…

We have reasonable discounts for employees from our IT computing suppliers, such as Dell.

We also have discounts for healthcare from BUPA and regular visits from BUPA to discuss personally for anyone who wants to.

We have leasing/salary sacrifice benefits for cars.

We can use our corporate travel company for personal travel. We dont get the corporate rate, but we get a discount rate much better than the rack rate for hotels. And discounts for flights by leveraging the global company we use (who can purchase tickets out of any sales office world wide where the cheapest price may be at that moment - can save hundreds or more on a single ticket).

  • We have none of these wonderful things (gyms, health fund discounts, HUP etc) where I work - but we do have free pizza every second Friday lunchtime, delivered to all floors, and a wine cart that makes its way around on the "off" Friday. Makes for happy workers at the end of the week.
