The reviews are quite poor :(

    • +45

We have had some issues with the USB fans - if you run into anything please contact us or send back to Amazon for full refund.
Discounting now as we will discontinue it due to fan issues.

quick reply in appreciation of the honesty.

      • Do I contact you through Amazon or is there an email address I can contact? My USB fans have completely died…

        • Just through Amazon please, that way we have access to all order details.

          • +1

@Astivita: OK. I purchased one for myself and one for my cousin so will need to contact you twice.

          • +3

@Astivita: Just a warning to others, they say they will help but I've had a few orders with totally broken items on arrival with no assistance at all.

      • +2

Is the stand itself sturdy though? I'm not sure I'd ever be expecting much from a fan in a $12 stand. Only care about the stand itself.

      • Not a deal breaker since one could remove them for extra ventilation.

      • A lot of Chromebook do not have fans. Not an issue for those using chromebooks.

        • +1

All the more reason to have an external fan.

      • Are the cooling fans even necessary if your laptop passively cools itself anyway, and has no fans of its own?

  • delivery $6 to Metro QLD, not sure about elsewhere

    • +2

      Just buy prime instead.

A few years ago a computer magazine did a comparison test of laptop cooling stands. Its conclusions were that unless large fans were installed that sufficiently covered the entire stand surface, the fans made no difference to the internal operating temperature of the laptop. And stands with small fans performed no better than elevating the laptop to ensure unimpeded flow to the air intake. Small fans are also noisy.

    • +4

I am totally unsurprised by those findings. The biggest benefit is just having the laptop on a hard surface, so the air intakes are not obstructed.

    • I think I recall that article. It was by (now defunct) Atomic Magazine?

I think the main thing to consider is that this is because laptop fans have a variable speed that is based on internal temperatures.

By using an large(r) external fan, which spins slower and thus quieter, the internal fans don't need to spin as fast. Your internal temperature will be the same regardless.

But by using a laptop cooler with decent fans - you a much quieter operation.

Edit: If i recalled the article correctly, it was also a LOT longer than a few years. Probably 7-8? lol.

I installed a 20cm diameter bathroom fan into my desk, worked well!

    • +1

When I used a stand with fans I stuck a pencil across the top of it so there would be space between the stand and my laptop base. That way the airflow from the fans would blow across the whole base and actually do something.

      • +1

This is rather embarrassing. I always felt the fans were a great way to keep ones testicle cooler

        • Jeez, how did you use the pencil?!

  • How much weight are these able to support?

    • +2

      Don't sit on it…

I bought one of these in the last deal, has been great for my laptop on the couch or to lift up my laptop when working on the desk with dual monitors. Very sturdy, at this price its a steal. I hardly use the fan, not gaming, so cant comment on the life of that.

    • +3

This is what I wanted to know. The fans are pointless in stands like this. I only wanted a decent and sturdy stand for my work laptop when I work from home

      • +13

Only comment is that it is maybe an inch or so too high on the lowest setting for me once you tilt it up, probably depends on your desk, height etc. Minor complaint though as i would buy again

        Also my cat loves it

        • +6

          +1 for cat photo

        • Aaaawwwww +melts+

  • Many 1 ster reviews on Amazon turned me off buying it.

  • Pictured is a Macbook Pro on the stand, which would block both fan vents, causing them stress, probably heating up the laptop in total.

    • I think on the older style MacBook Pros like that the vents comes through the hinge when it's open.

      • Correct - that particular model has both the intake and exhaust in the spine.

i ended up getting one, couldnt care less about the fan just want a good lil lap table for mouse/keyboard and dinners while on the couch

  • +2

I paid $22.50 last deal & thought that was a bargain, never used fans either.. Pretty sturdy unit overall..

  • I grabbed one, for $12 the stand itself should be handy! I would prefer the black stand without fans, but this is half the price!

  • I absolutely do not need this, yet bought one.

  • Yep bought one :) thanks op

  • +1

    Multi use & apologies?!

    • You can use it as whatever your imaginary can take you. And sorry for the fark up fan.

  • +1

    Doubles as a cutting board.

  • Got one don't even know why, can't for the life of me work out how i'm going to use it

  • don't know why i bought this.. might use it as a fan in the bedroom

    • possibly a foot rest and fan for my feet

  • I joined prime and ordered it.

  • Thank you Op. Ordered one

  • considering that little portable tables like this sell for more money at the cheap shop (use for a bed table or picnic table)
this is a good price just for the table itself. Regardless of any fan issue. plus it can tilt the laptop etc and has the small drawer.

  • Thanks. Bought it for the stand and not the fan.

  • What's the weight capacity? I'm seeing only reviews for laptops. Will this be able to carry the weight of a desktop computer?

  • -1

    Check the reviews 😅

  • Thanks op got 1 for $7! Had a $5 discount from an Amazon gift card??

  • Mine arrived today, won't have time to open it til later tho. I'll give feedback.

  • Got mine. It smells like soy sauce or fish. Something wrong with the surface finish they put on this thing.

    • +1

Mine looked fine, quality is decent. Can't complain for $12, but yet to test fans.

    • +1

Couldn't open the drawer, super tight. YAY!

      • Interesting, mine opened fine. At least there's variety in the different problems it has!

@Yummy, it might also be tight due to the bottom of the table being in there. By bottom, I mean that little wooden "shelf" on the surface table.

It's not actually on the table, it's inside and you attach it onto the table surface. At least, that's how mine was packaged :P

Can confirm fans only really work if usb inserted halfway. Also found the built in drawer unopenable.
Stand is a little shaky when fully extended as screws to stop extendable legs from moving bit loose on one side.

  • Also can confirm the fan only works if usb inserted partially in to socket.. I am using it as a laptop stand and have found it to noticably cool down the base of the laptop.. sturdy and works well.. not bad for $12
