Ecco Pizza - Fremantle WA Scoopon - Received text mssg from Ecco saying they were closed

Ecco sent me a text saying they were closed and my booking was cancelled and I should visit THEIR website for info on vouchers and scoopons.

Their website remains the same and no word from Scoopon. I will try to find out what the deal is.

Meanwhile, if you have a booking with Ecco, confirm it before you go.

(I will f/u soon on Dux and Beach Shack, shivering primate. Thanks for your concern.)

Ecco responded saying they were relocating and would honour their vouchers once reopened. Vouchers extended until dec 2012. They didn't say where or when, but from their behaviour thus far, I trust them to be doing the right thing.

  • Thanks Voteoften for the update. I received similar message.
I will take their word for it… but kinda sucks that I live around Freo and now need to go to City to dine -_-

I have checked the Ecco website and below is what it says. While they are handling the situation more honourably than perhaps most of the other restaurants on group buying sites, I think Scoopon should email buyers offer optional refunds for those who want them. Perth has a large transient population. Some buyers may not be here when the restaurant reopens in Dec 2011. North Perth is at least 20km away from the Fremantle location. Buyers bought with the idea that they would be eating in Freo, not North Perth. Refunds should be offered.

    Dear loyal Customers,

We have just recently closed down our fremantle restaurant due to our lease coming to an end. We are relocating to north perth and full details will be posted on our relaunch expected on 1 december 2011.

All Vouchers will be honoured and extended to december 2012.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you at our new exciting restaurant.

    • Doesn't the fact the offer has changed (substantially different location) mean that refunds must be legally made available?

  • When you think about it, if you purchased a voucher for a restaurant located in Fremantle and it no longer exists in that location, you'd have a pretty good argument for a chargeback on your credit card if Scoopon won't come to the party.

  • Hi All,

Ecco Pizza has closed their premises at Fremantle, and will be reopening in North Perth.
Scoopon has not been advised of the new location yet, we will let you know when this becomes available to us.

If any Scoopon Member wishes to contact [email protected] our Support Team will be more than happy to assist any questions you may have.

    Kind Regards,
    Team Scoopon.

  • They have extended to 31 December 2012 HOWEVER they didn't mention that you need to HAVE YOUR BOOKING FINALISED BY 31 MARCH 2012 even if you want to redeem it before 31 December 2012. In other words, if they do not reply to confirm that your booking is completed before 31 March it will not be valid. And they said they get 300 emails a day. And they never told me the email address to use.

I've asked for a refund and this loyal customer of Ecco Fremantle will never be going to North Perth.

  • Ummmm….. They didn;t mention this to me either when they replied that my dates were not available. FFS! I'm going to ask for a refund as well. This just isn;t right. They never said that in any correspondence to me, just that they were extendning them until 31 dec.

  • Scoopon person - my ticket number is 57973. I have put in a request for 4 scoopons to be refunded. The location has changed to one that is highly inconvenient and they have changed the deal by requiring email bookings and although they said they would honour the voucher until 31 dec, they are now, apparently, changing that.

    Very disappointed in ECCO.

  • I have received a response from scoopon. It does not address the 31 March deadline at all. Or the fact that you can not get a phone booking (when you cal, you get told off and instructed to email for a booking). Also does not adress the new location is inconvenient to me and not what I bought.

It does not even confirm the extension date is 31 dec. Very unacceptable. Makes me wonder if they are deliberately trying to stuff up voucher holders by later saying you needed to USE them by some other date.

    Hi you pretty thing,

Thank you for writing in to us.

I have been informed that Ecco Pizza have moved and they are now located at 391 Fitzgerald St, North Perth.
They can be contacted on (08)9227 8020 or at: [email protected]

I can also advise that they are extending vouchers for all Scoopon customers and kindly suggest you contact Ecco Pizza in order to arrange a booking.

I hope this information was helpful.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again should you have any further queries or problems.

    Kind regards,

  • If I get another response that does not address the changed location and does not asure me I can book after 31 march, I will go to the adma. Now that I know it is so easy, literally less than 5 minutes, I will do it earlier in the piece.

  • Okay a refund or credit has been offered. I have accepted a refund as the scoopon credits are non longer aqcceptable to me due to the fact that you can not combine them in a single purchase.

Ecco pizza won awards for its Subi location. That closed. I went to ecco the very first night that the offer was available in Freo. Fantastic! I went a second time to the Freo location. Not so good. Items and sauces were omitted from the tasting plate. Only one dessert available instead of three. They said they had run out, but at 530pm? And why was the same dessert the one that was always available. I read that other peeps had a similar experience on Urbanspoon.

It was a good deal in a good location. I would advise most people to ask for a refund because Ecco had gone way downhill by the time I went for my second visit. Since these group buy companies do not want to come to the party if you get screwed on the day, I would say it is not worth the risk.
