Installation Location for a Split Aircond in L Shape Lounge Room

Hi guys,

wanting to put in a 5kw split aircond in our lounge room.
(we've already gone and put deposit on a panasonic unit)

its L shaped - although image shows 'dining' the space isnt actually used
would you recommend installing in option A or option B?
to maximise cooling for the lounge area? and mainly the sofa

we're aware there's added cost for option A.

    Option B looks best

    • We have similar lounge/dining space and installed at Option B point.

  • Also what about Option C, the bottom wall just above the sofa

    • full window… floor to ceiling on both sides :*

Aircon over TV? You must be a gambling man.

    • yeah this was a concern… but wouldve offset the aircond to the right as the hallway is open … electrical sock would be on the left wall

      • If you have a nice oled, you do not want any wter trickling near it. Close to socket or not.

  • Option B, much better

  • B. Means it can potentially go into the kitchen if needed also.

  • has to be option B. Option A would cost a fortune to install

  • Option A is too close to the entrance. Much cold air would head out the door.

AC isn’t really designed to sit in front of, more to cool/heat the whole room. If you want to feel cool get a fan to point at you where you sit as well.

Definitely Option B for reasons listed above.

Also, the Option B will create a a gradual air flow stream taking the cool air into the corridor and rest of house

Our house is have similar layout and we had 7kw one at position B (although a bit more to the upper side in your photos so more air can go further to cool the kitchen. Didn't have any issue with cooling but if you want to save energy then better close the door connecting the kitchen. Heating is less than ideal as it takes a while to warm the room. I suppose it will still work ok with a 5kw system, 7kw is a bit overkill
