Need to Buy New White Goods in Sydney - Options Online Vs Local Shops ? Which Has Better Deals

Hello All,

We just moved to Sydney from living in overseas for few years. Now I need to buy all the electronic items to survive in Sydney for another 5 years or more.
I need to buy TV, Fridge, Microwave, Washing Machine, Vacuum cleaner, stand fans etc.
I found JB hifi, Binglee, goodguys has all the items I am looking for but looking for online shops like Appliance Online has better deals with free delivery and install. Can you guys recommend if the below sites are reliable and what happens during an issue with let's say a pixel on my TV is damaged or anything is damaged ? Do they sell 100% authentic goods like the shops ? Are they easy to deal with ?
If I have to buy online is there any other online stores. I basically would go to the shops like Binglee to see which fridge or tv I want then compare the prices. But adding delivery charges the online stores are still much cheaper.

Appliances Online is 100% legit, I have bought from them in the past and would recommend them without hesitation. Haven't had to return anything though so I can't provide an opinion on their returns policy. They are as real a business as Harvey Norman/JB or any others though, so I wouldn't be concerned about them selling fake stock or anything like that.

I would recommend going to a real retail store to look at / try out models you are interested in, and then buy from wherever is cheapest (maybe it's online, maybe it's a retail store).

    • Not sure if you know, but

Appliances Online is the online shop of Winning Appliances.
Appliance Central is the online shop of Betta Electrical.

  • Many real retail stores will price match or even beat online prices nowadays.

Find the best online price you can OP and then spend some time visiting bricks and mortar stores and see what they can do for you.

IMO it's always easier in the case of a warranty issue to walk into a bricks and mortar store and speak face to face with a team member/manager than phone or email an on-line store.

    • HN is probably an exception to this

      • Very true but you only go to HN to find out the highest price the item sells for anywhere in Australia and then go elsewhere.

  • Thank you so much guys. I had no clue online stores like Appliances Online = Winning Appliances and Appliance Central = Betta Electrical.

JB Hifi could price match the TV or even Binglee but they won't give the free delivery or install like appliance online which is $100 or a bit less for each item (for example TV from JB + Washing Machine from Binglee etc).

  • Can vouch for Appliances Online. Excellent service and have never been disappointed. I just bought a fridge from them last week too.

  • We have decided to go to Binglee and JB hifi to check out the fridge TV etc and then order mostly everything in appliances online. I hope they are as good as the ratings and reviews go.

Do you think they will also install and set it up for us ?

Also for TV cabinet where can we go as we are renting we cannot wall mount the TV.

    • That's exactly what I did, shopped around for models I wanted and called Appliances Online to get a better offer on LG fridge and washing machine. They take payment on delivery with $0 upfront. Brought it up 50 floors, unpacked, installed & checked both and took away rubbish absolutely free. Can't complain.

TV is probably best getting a deal in store. I got the Sony official store sale deal for both TV and speaker system way back.

TV cabinet can be had cheap from eBay or IKEA easy. Something basic like this that suits your decor is fine: https://www.ebay.com/itm/371929774369/

      • thank you Hubroid you gave me some good suggestions
