TCL 75C8 75" 4K QUHD Smart LED TV $1,695 + Delivery @ JB Hi-Fi

190

Kid woke me up at 3AM and forced me to browse around for random bargains as I couldn't fall back to sleep!

The TV price seems to be the cheapest out there plus $59 delivery to VIC and NSW. Other stores have the same TV for around the $2K mark.

It has a single 4* reviews on ProductReviews and I couldn't find anything on rtings.com. Maybe someone who own this can shed some light on the quality?

Credits to the https://prino.io app. These guys are awesome with pretty fast response on feature request, I requested for Costco to be added and they did within 30 minutes! Found them via a forum post here.

Now I will go back to my slumber before the lil monsters wake up in a couple hours…

  • Theres lots of videos on YouTube on the TCL C8 series, not to be confused with the TCL Series 8 Roku Edition. It seems to be a model that was only just released and sold in Pakistan for their market, not sure how it stacks up because I couldn't understand most of what they said.

OP: Great justification for the web activity in the description. 👶 🍼 🍼 🍼 … 💩

Hopefully when you next get up you won't get too bothered by the rain coming your way later today. ⛈️ ☔ ⛆ 🌈

I have had the TCL C4US 75 for the last year and a half. Android TV does take some time to load when you switch on but then it’sa game changer. To have tv YouTube plex Stan Kayo all controlled by 1 remote….OMG…. just love it. Picture quality is great and the speakers at the bottom are good too! All in all a great purchase. Let me know if you have any other questions

  • Seems to have a very good specs. Wish this was posted a bit earlier. Just bought Samsung 75RU7100 yesterday and it's been dispatched :(

dude youll be impressed with the 7100, considering you prob paid well under 2k for it yeah. TCL aint gonna be anywhere near as good as the samsung. put that frown upside down. ha

      • Ha ha :)) I hope so. So I assume you own a 7100? Cheers

        • I own a 70inch LG. My dad did own the 7100 which was great, expecially at the price it is now. he has recently upgraded to the RU8000 82inch for the lounge room and the 75inch Q90R for the main bedroom. ive bought cheaper branded tvs before mate and they really dont have anything over samsung, LG, Sony etc.

          • @Crumydog: Thanks. Wanted to buy the 82" RU8000 deal posted a few days ago, but its stand is too wide to fit in my TV cabinet. Interestingly, the RU8000 series is not available in 75", only 65" and 82".

            • @Bargain Fighter: np mate, i would of bought a bigger tv stand for the 82 lol. yeah weird sizing.

Browsing bargains will make falling back asleep more difficult, even with a blue light filter

    Nice find though

  • Seems like a good price and good device but a number of people here have had issues with getting support from TCL to fulfil their warranty further down the line, so be wary of that.

I concur, still going through the pain now, I thought it was just me.

Only 350 nits peak brightness, useless for HDR.

I got this TV as a warranty replacement for the previous model 75C4US which had grey colour bands across the screen

TCL were actually really good to deal with my fault, the local repairer showed up within a day and arranged a complete TV replacement within a week with this model. This was also about 14 months from purchase. 3 yr warranty.

The motion smoothing on this model and the previous model is really bad. Even mild motion will cause jittering and pixelation. I have to turn it right off however everytime I restart the TV it loses its "memory" and even though the slider is set to 0 you can tell its turned back on so you need to slide it back up to 10 then back down to 0 for it to go away. I may be oversensitive to it though so it would pay to see it for yourself instore.

The smart features work great - I have thrown every kind of video format at it through the built in video player and it has played everything without fault. 4K Netflix works well and looks great.

If you get it make sure you turn on the "instant on" feature so you dont have to wait every time you turn it on. Obviously this will use more standby power. Havent really used the built in sound bar as I have external but when I first tried it out it was definitely a step above normal TV speakers.

    • Do you do any gaming on your TV mate?
If so how does it perform?
Do you know if it had a game mode?

Really hard to find info online, would love to know how low the input lag is.

      Thanks

      • It has PC mode and Game mode.

I have ps4 pro and HDR 4K works with the TV. I play rocket league and Apex and no input lag

        • That's good to hear, as in said below somewhere I had a look at one today and could not find game mode in the settings… But I was rushing a bit.

        • There is input lag, you just don't notice it which is good. All TVs have input lag.

Can you measure and let me know the width of its stand?

Also, can you comment on its viewing angel? Do you know it is IPS or VA panel? Thanks

      • It doesn’t need a viewing angel it’ll have you instead

Outside edge to outside edge of feet is 1400mm. Edge to edge of tv is 1680.

  • Is this a significant upgrade from the TCL 75" 75P8MR ?

TCL 75" 75P8MR is sold for much cheaper around $1200 mark.

  • Just needed with the settings at my local JB hi-fi… Could not find a game mode option anywhere!?

    • Sorry for the typo… I "messed" with the settings.

      • It is there but you have to be on a HDMI input first then picture settings are

        PC
        Game
        Movie
        Sport
        Smart HDR
        Standard

        • Of course, that explains it… Thanks again.
