Help Finding 40-43" UHD TV with Disney Plus

Hi Gang

Looking for a TV that supports Disney+ out of the box (or install-able). Looking at either Kogan or TCL with Android TV and hoping to get a sub $500 price. Haven't purchased a TV from Kogan before but am happy with the monitors that I have. Also I have smaller TCL TV but the OS is garbage and it's had had some inconsistent network issues. Can anyone offer advice, comments or offer alternatives?

Thank in advance!

Buy a dumb tv, then buy an Amazon fire stick.

I'd go for Chrome cast, but each to their own.
In the end all Smart TV's are pretty dumb.
They lose software support long before the TV is dead.

      • Chromecast requires the use of a phone or tablet which is annoying imho. Fire stick (and my nexus player, no longer available sadly), have their own GUI and can be controlled with your tv remote through HDMI.

Smart TVs also seem to be very underpowered, my father in law's brand new sony with Android tv is borderline unusable.

        • I have a Fire Stick and a Xiaomi MiBox, both GUI powered boxes.
The FireStick is unused and the MiBox is used as a glorified Chromecast aside from some occasional gaming.

I simply prefer using my phone to navigating a GUI with a Remote.
It's just so much faster and easier in every respect, especially if you're searching by keyword, typing in a GUI is tedious at best and Voice recognition is hit and miss.

As I said, each to their own, you can cast to a FireStick as well I believe (?) although I've never tried.

          • @ESEMCE: I normally just use Netflix or Amazon Prime, so not much typing. If typing a lot phone would be far easier.

Yep you can cast to any of those devices that use android as the backbone as far as I know.

        • 2nd that, my Hisense processor must be the equivalent of a 486 when running native youtube or Netflix. My console is a much smoother experience, 2nd gen Chromecast on its last legs but still effective.

Kogan is great until it breaks and that is when the support nightmare starts!

As mentioned above get a dumb TV and a fire stick/Xiaomi TV/Vodafone TV(pick one) and that would be a much better option. Assuming this would be for a kid's room and if simplicity is what you are after then get a TCL Android TV and install (or sideload APK) from playstore. I have an old Hisense running Android and sideloaded the disneyplus APK - no issues.

I just bought this one, https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lg-43um7600pta-um76-serie… but it was on sale for 520 or 530 last week or the week before

    • That's a pretty good deal and heaps better than TCL and Kogan.. Disney+ is also available on TVs running webos so no issues there!

I'd question the need for 4K on a 40" screen. Seems to be at the small end of the scale for it to be warranted.

Could get a $300 FHD tv and an xbox one ;)

  • Samsung 42” 4K has Disney plus. We bought one just before Christmas for $545 at good guys

Thanks for your input everyone. I ended up going with FFALCON 40" FHD LED for 268 at JB. Working great so far and quite impressed considering the price. I'm planning on getting a firestick and an adaptor so that I can plug a portable HDD into it. Thanks again
