Docking Station for Home Office

Have recently bought a HP I7 15 inch laptop and looking at a docking station.

Looking at the docking station so dual monitors are permanently set up and I can easily remove the laptop for work purposes.

Any suggestions on a cheap option. Don’t need expansive graphics on monitor etc as my work is limited to the net and office.

Thanks!

  • Lenovo thinkpad usb 3.0 docking station - bought on ebay second hand for $30 and works great with surface pro, desktop and work laptop (not all at once obviously!)

  • Do you already have the dual monitors? If not, just get a super wide one and simplify the setup.

  • Dell's WD15 or WD19. Don't buy those cheap ones on eBay. I tried a few and some have bricked my USB and SD cards. Most use cheap caps which explode easily and will end up breaking your USB devices.

    • I have a WD19TB at work. It's good, but not many ports given the size and price and the connector is very loose into my Dell latitude. I guess I could exchange it.

  • Great thanks.. will look at these options

  • Hi guys,
any experience with Targus USB 3.0 Dual Video Smart Dock?

  • If your laptop has a Thunderbolt port I'd go that route over a USB 3 one based on my past experiences with USB 3 hub style "docks" including the Lenovo ones. But the best docks for me are the ones that you actually sit the laptop in and either have a connector on the laptops bottom or some the newer ones mostly now have a Thunderbolt port connection.
