Any of the legitimate gold dealers will buy it from you at spot price minus a few percentages.

Check out the the forums or info here (aussie site)

    https://www.goldstackers.com.au/

From there you can fine your local gold dealer to get the fairest price. Noite: If you sell/buy over 5K's worth at a time they have to report it to the feds so if that's an issue just make a couple of trips instead.

    • Nar he won it legit in some lotto

      thanks

      • Was it rsl prize home lottery or similar?

    silverstackers.com

    buy sell forums.

been buying and selling on that site for many many years.

  • We have bought it from gold dealers in the past, there are plenty of reputable ones around. Thankfully things haven't been tight enough financially to have to sell it! Give it a quick google, they'll pay you current price per ounce less a margin percentage.

To save on paperwork and unnecessary questioning, do $5k or less at a time or it gets reported.

  • If he legitimately won it I don't think they deliver blocks of gold to his house. Don't they just keep it in reserve and give him a certificate stating information that he can then just onsell.

They ship it from Nigeria in trunk boxes after you pay taxes and stamp duty

  • If they are in Sydney I have used Pacific Rim Coins in Lane Cove. Reputable been around for ages. They pay cash or do a Direct deposit while you are there.

  • Nice to win - but seriously - what a stupid prize! I’ve seen gold prizes before and always thought it was a bit of a scam because nobody could ever sell it for the amount the prize claimed it was worth. Just give away cash people! We don’t need fancy gold - what do they think we are? A dragon?

  • Most Asian jewellery shops will buy it

  • The missus won a gold bullion from a radio show once. She was given the option of either claiming the bullion or getting the equivalent in cash. She took the cash, which was slightly less than 10k. Has your mate already claimed his prize? If not, he could try to negotiate with them to receive the cash equivalent instead?

Edit: Found the email that she was sent:

If a listener wins Gold Bullion as part of their prize, they have the option to store the gold with As Good as Gold Australia at no cost for the first 12 months, or sell part of or all of the gold back at any time for cash.

Suggest your mate does some research to find the value. It's not as straightforward as "here's the market price of gold" and here's how much grams/weight you have. Depending on size/amount, maybe you can just go to one of those shopping centre gold buyers or a jewellery shop to sell it, but it will also depend on other factors (purity, any authentication already done, etc).

Has your friend considered selling it to an interstate purchaser on Gumtree who wants to pay using Paypal?

    • or a purchaser from an oil rig that will pay you twice as much for you inconvenience because they cant pick up the item and need you to post to them
