JBL 3.1 Sound bar with Subwoofer $425 (Free Click + Collect) @ Harvey Norman

120

Been looking for a deal on these since Black Friday. Cheapest I've seen them and highly rated 3.1 Channel Soundbar for those cramped for space.
I've heard these in person and they are right up there in comparison to <$800 soundbar systems. Mid's lack a tad, but that's nitpicking.

Build isn't as elegants as say Yamahas/sony system with all plastic body and front mesh. This is all aluminium body, but the sound it delivers is heaps better.

read the review, people not recommend it.

      • Most of them are positive, the only negative is that it turns off after 15 minutes. Well worth a try at $145, rare to find a good brand soundbar with sub for that price. And 3.1 at that.

For what its worth, I have the SB450 which is a an earlier model albeit a step up - and I cannot fault the ARC integration. It works flawlessly regardless of input - ps4, chromecast, live tv, teltra tv and onboard Netflix.

JBL have really mastered their integration across devices. I assume this model would be just as effective.

  • This or the Yamaha YAS 207?

Depends on what you're after. I'd personally pick the JBL only cause i've heard it in person and compared both in person. Yamaha has added features like DTS Virtual X, but JBL has their own surround sound implementation which is as good if not better.

      JBL has larger speaker size, 3 x 1.25" tweeters (JBL) 2 x 1" Tweeter (Yamaha), 6 x 2.25" woofer (JBL) 4 x 1.75" woofer (Yamaha)
JBL sub is by far hands down the most impressive i've heard for any soundbar including Samsungs Q90R subwoofer. JBL 10" 25hz vs Samsung 8" 40hz. The sub seriously has punch to it.

JBL 3.1 also has more HDMI inputs 3 vs 1 (yamaha).

  • Anyone has experience with the Hisense 5.1.2 soundbar? I'm waiting for specials for either the Hisense or this JBL one. Any comment on the sound quality of both? I've heard the JBL in store but never find the Hisense one. Thanks

  • Tempting. My lg oled sound is terrible, can’t hear dialogue in movies. Edifier 1280’s have made minimum improvement and too annoying with no remote sync available. Might get rid of them for this.

  • Is the 5.1 worth the cost difference?

  • This or Bose Soundbar 700? I know it is different price point and not the right way to compare but considering if I don't want to change my sound system for the next 5 years. Bose Soundbar 700 + Base module used to be $1400 for a combo 2 months ago.

    • I hate anything Bose……..sorry can't provide an unbiased opinion. To me, they are wayyyy overpriced for what they actually do.

  • Is this thin enough to go in front of a LG C9?

  • Just picked this up yesterday. Very positive experience overall, and that sub is excellent. However, I think one of the best features is the 4x HDMI ports (1x ARC output and 3x input). This is rare for soundbars and usually reserved for AV receivers. It's really useful if you have a wall mounted TV. It means you only need the one cable going in the wall to the TV, and the rest can be connected easily behind the soundbar.
