Hi all, I have had a Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus for a long time now, but the screen is broken and I would need to get a replacement soon. Which phone would you recommend spending up to $250? I would like it to have a better camera than my current one but no much pretensions than that. I would really appreciate any suggestions :)

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T 4/64. $253 incl delivery, no gst.
Has a good camera but not comparable with $1500 units, has NFC, B28 & 4000mah battery.

Since you already own Redmi 5, you shouldn't have problem buying a grey import phone. There's lots of good phone(unfortunately the camera won't be amazing, but at least will be much better than your current phone) around ~$250, I'll recommend looking for Xiaomi or Realme phones

You could probably pick up one of the older / outgoing Motorola G7 models for that price range. Otherwise Samsung Galaxy Aseries, A20, A30 or A50 may be worth looking at.
