Contact details - If you can't find the business address or contact number of the business you have purchased boots from, who will help you with customer issues.
There are so many sheepskin boots out there claiming to be 100% Australian Made. How can you tell one authentic boot from the rest?

What to ask your retailer when buying your sheepskin products.

Where are your skins from?
Where are they processed?
Are the boots hand cut, hand stitched, hand glued in Australia?
Ask for the address of manufacturer and tannery. There should be no reason why your retailer cannot provide you with details of the origin of your boots.

All Ugg Australia® products are 100% Australian made at our factory and ecologically processed at our Roman Tannery in Laverton North, Melbourne.

  • I've just this minute picked up the Long Merino Rug I bought. I was thinking it would be quite dense, like how it is on a sheep, but it's far less dense and long teased out fibres. Pretty much the same as any you can get anywhere. It's also only 90 x 50 (average width) cm (smaller than the 105 x 70 they say). I have a pair of their boots and they're ok, but these skins are nothing special (except they cost more than others).

What they've measured is the absolute extreme of the fibres which are teased out all around from the actual skin. So on the Large version the skin is 93 cm long at the extreme, but the fibres add the extra to get 105cm. The width of the skin at the bottom (only) is 64cm, but again the fibres make it 70cm. That's only at the bottom - the rest of the skin width varies from 37 to 57 cm.

I think if you want the more dense type of finish it's the medical sheepskin you want.

Note to Ugg - it might help show what the Large is like if you had a photo of a hand on it (like in the Baby version) which would help give an indication of the type of fibres & density and maybe a drawing of the actual skins with correct dimensions ('waist and hips'), not the exaggerated ones you use.
