This weeks catalogue has the 1TB HP (starts Wed). It recently had a price drop from $138 to $94, now this! Good for those who want 3.0 but cant afford something more expensive.

Hint: BigW release their catalogue prices at 2pm the day before so they can prepare for it. So you can really pick one up tomorrow after 2pm, providing they are on the shelf.

  • this is a 3.5" drive for those wondering

same case design as the 2.0gb that was on sale

  • $107 for 2TB in current BIGW Catalogue

  • I found the catalogue you are refering to (I think): pg26 of the Father's Day Catalogue
    http://catalogues.bigw.com.au/portal/dynamiccatalogue?Catalo…
lists the 2 TB as $107, correct.
If you follow the 'Buy now' link from the catalogue, you get taken to an HP 2TB drive, listed as $138, but out of stock!
    http://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/computers-office/drives-s…

The one than the op posted is listed on p30 of the upcoming catalogue (07 sep to 20 sep),
    http://catalogues.bigw.com.au/portal/dynamiccatalogue?Catalo…

    So, bottom line:
If you want the 2TB for $107, use the link that 'wtuanmu' posted, and Find in store.

  • Any idea whose hard drive is in it?

    • +1

I would say a Western Digital one.

  • for 1TB, I hope i can find something at $4x or $3x. doesnt matter if it s USB3 or not. my "new" laptop doesnt surpport 3.0 anyway, lame! the worst buy in recent years( i mean my laptop)

  • +1

I just purchased a WD Elements 1Tb for $79 from DSE. Luckily I don't regret it because I prefer WD over HP any day. HP will probably make warranty a pain to the rear to claim after what they've went through.

    • It was definitely a good purchase. I would take WD over HP too. You are right about HP warranty. Will never purchase any HP product ever again.

  • Is there anything out there cheaper which is only USB 2.0… I don't have any reason for 3.0

    • At this price and quality (Compared to generic devices), probably not. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 anyway.
