The OMO liquid 3x is better due to the enzymes.
Some washing machines (I know a lot of front loaders) are not suited to liquid washing agents.
I've pulled out my LG manual for my front loader. Did not specify liquid or powder requirements, other than to use only those designed for Front Loaders only. However, it did recommend to mix power with warm water before adding into the machine.
I've been using OMO small & mighty for Front Loaders without issues and have been buying it based on advice from a washing machine repairer (who also advised to use hot water, preferrably 40'c, as opposed to cold water to prolong the life of the washer).

I can not think of any reason why that statement is true
There's no science behind it, it's just what has worked for some long time users of front loaders. Up to individuals to consider.
