Allied Express - No Attempt at Delivery

Hello everyone,

Had a delivery scheduled today from Kogan who use Allied Express to deliver their orders. I woke up at 8am and began working in the study which is right next to the front door. 10:30am rolls past and I get am email telling me an attempt at delivery was made but no one was home so a card was left. At this point I give them the benefit of the doubt and walk outside to look for said card which is no where to be found. This makes it clear to me that no attempt at delivery was made, I don't even know if the driver took the package out of the depot!

I call the customer support team who advise me that there was an attempted delivery and they can reschedule the delivery or can pick up from the depot but they can't contact the driver or do anything else and offered no sympathy or apologies (guess they must be numb to all the calls they receive from dodgy drivers).

This is just crazy to me and must be happening all the time because I get some auspost deliveries where no card is present and I literally have to rock up to the post office and ask if they have any packages for me. How do the driver's get away with this and how can I prevent it in the future?

Do you guys have any similar experiences?

UPDATE: Turned out they did leave a card and subsequently delivered it today…. to the WRONG ADDRESS. Had to call up customer service after getting a notification telling me that it's been left with no signature but nothing turning up outside my house. Customer services tells me that the driver is no longer in the area and therefore, will go try and retrieve it TOMORROW. No apologies, no sympathy just business as usual for these guys. So annoying.

Kenny

Australia Post do the same thing all the time to me.

  • This has happened to me in peak periods like Christmas, Australia post drops a card but never knocks on the door. Pretty annoying when you’ve been tracking it and are sitting inside waiting for package.

    • Let's all just start posting GPS trackers to ourselves, turned on and prove how pathetic this system is. There is no compensation for the time you waste, despite having paid for the service. It's a joke.

  • UPS did the same thing to me 2 weeks ago. Attempted delivery, card left. I was home all day, and only about 4m from the front door, and no card left.

  • Yeah this pretty much happens all the time with deliveries, although most of the time they do leave a card at least. What I do now is make sure the delivery is set to leave in a safe place (although that option sometimes isn't even available), otherwise drivers get lazy (or they want to make as many deliveries as possible) so they just leave a card saying to pick it up without actually knocking on the door.

  • I got 2 cards from StarTrack today, 1 was backdated to 4pm yesterday. Funny that, I was gardening the whole afternoon on my day off and saw no delivery being attempted.

  • Happens all the time, really just depends on the delivery driver. Some are lazy as fk. Nothing you can do, happens with every single postal company, austpost, StarTrack, fasteay, etc etc

    • I'm really lucky in that my local AusPost delivery guy is really good. Always knocks. Bit scared of dogs, or mine at least, but doesn't mind waiting if he hears me locking the dog in the garage before opening the door.

  • Always happens with couriers with me but never auspost.

  • Man this is so disappointing, wish you could complain but it seems to be the norm.

  • Update posted.
