Definitely a good deal, although you have to think these are going the way of fax machines. The only people to call our landline are our parents and those kind people from Microsoft telling us our computer has a virus. ;-)

    • So true. Oh, and the solar panel sales and LED bulb replacement services.

    • Yep I pulled our landline out of the wall. No one calls us on it, we make all outgoing calls on mobiles with unlimited plans, and the only daily calls on the landline were telemarketing calls about led lights, solar panels, other rubbish I didn't want etc.

Interesting. How many people still using a landline or cordless phone at home?

    • +1

Landline via VoIP on nbn ✔
Corded telephones connected via ATA ✔
Cordless telephone connected via DECT to base (with answering machine) to ATA ✔
Cordless telephone connected via DECT to router ✔
Mobile telephones connected via SIP over Wi-Fi to router, and via SIP over cellular networks to server ✔

Yet to test fax and dial-up over VoIP

  • I certainly do, I still don't have nor want a mobile phone and I like having a speaker phone and an answering machine for my home phone (yes I realise mobiles can do that).

    • Surprise you usIng internet.

      • Yea good one……… just because they "know everything about you" like a book in the library.

  • Do they also sell phones with the circular dial?

    • You can probably make an Arduino one. I'm sure they have a kit!

It is called a rotary dial.

  • Waiting for the dial-up modems to go on sale.
