The Good Guys Bad Delivery Experience [Whine Post :(]

Basically I ordered a pair of headphones last week 5th of March from The Good Guys and paid for delivery. Straight after I got a confirmation for the order and the next day a email about the order being "on its way". Usually I'd expect to recieve a tracking number or at least an update about when it'll arrive but didn't get anything. I've been waiting thinking maybe the long weekend caused delays however I live in metro area which they say up to 5 days delivery. Yesterday I sent a email to which I didn't get any response, not even an automated one. Today I called the store that apparently dispatched my order and they said that they only got the order on the 8th and they are unable to track since it's after 5pm.

Literally a horrible delivery experience and to make things even worse, my mate ordered the exact same headphones to the same suburb a day later and he got them yesterday.

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else but definitely makes me question if I'll shop with them again. It could be a one-off problem but the lack of communication is disappointing to say the least.

Also I was wondering if there is anyway to get some sort of compensation of some sort, especially since I've already paid for shipping that never came.
Edit: Read all your responses and I've overreacted so I'll wait till next week before I can complain again haha

“ especially since I've already paid for shipping that never came“
Understand the frustration but it’s a stretch (at this stage) to say it never came

I do not think there is any recourse for the injustice you’ve suffered by having a longer delivery experience than expected, which seems worse given the contrast to your friends experience

    • Definitely. Usually I wouldn't be annoyed if I could at least track that it was on it's way but nothing. My mate also receive a email with a tracking number which I never got. Bit confused why

Jesus Christ what's with everyone whining for the most asinine reasons?

I ordered a pair of headphones last week 5th of March

    And:

I live in metro area which they say up to 5 days delivery.

What day is it today? The 12th which is 5 business days from the 5th.

And you're already on here whining about it. To top it off:

Also I was wondering if there is anyway to get some sort of compensation of some sort

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Even better, it's only 4 business days. Monday was a public holiday lol.

        Seriously ffs.

Yeah you're right. I overreacted and yes I haven't waited enough days so I get your point. The problem is that usually you're usually kept in the loop about where your order is or you can track it. And on top of that my mate's order literally went through after me but he got it before which has me confused.
But definitely I get why it looks like I'm whining, needed to vent a little. Sorry

Why'd you have to go and become all reasonable. Now I feel bad lol. You even edited the title!

But to be fair you're right, a lot places do give much more granular updates about delivery. And I just came off the other thread with a guy also complaining about (potentially) late delivery of a freebie.

Think everyone just has those days and I see both side of the problem. It's awesome that you responded though and we were all able to talk about the topic which is basically what I wanted in this discussion thread. Of course I'm not 100% pleased but it's good to get it of my chest and read other opinions.
Editing the title, well sometimes you just have to own it haha

    Oh ffs

Did you comprehensively insure the delivery?

    Literally a horrible delivery experience

No, it isn't (for a number of reasons).

  • +2

Oh dear…I’m sure this didn’t go the way the OP envisaged…

Certainly not but completely get everyone's response

They are a bricks and mortar retail store that started online purchasing and delivery to keep up. It's not their core business. Just take a chill pill.

    • +1

Yeah look I overreacted but all good now. Will wait a while more before complaining again lol

Seeing your mate grabbed a pair too it seems they must be a bargain. Any link to your post on Ozbargain telling us about the good deal?

Was the Sennheiser 4.5s for $164. Not the cheapest in the past but was a good price

I find this mob, the shop, the workers, and the delivery guys all rude, incompetent, and debasing.
They are selling a TV I bought for 2.8 for 3.4 whilst professing it is a 15% discount….

    All these "discounts" are scams

    • I too wish you luck and hope you eventually get them. Unfortunately my one experience with TGG was so bad I can't even bring myself to write about it, but it did involve a click and collect order for a product that was in stock but the store refused to give me as a different store in a different state was going to post it to me, and a 2 week wait for that to happen and a refusal to cancel the order and just give me one from the shelf… As I say, good luck. I've never been back to them, and never got a reply when I contacted their supposed head office.

    • While I don't necessarily think it's a scam, they could probably do better to be more transparent, at least in my case anyway. Guess everyone has different luck

    • Where does one get a tv for $2.80?

Back in my day, you young whipper snapper, I had to get out of my warm bed and drive to a shop to get something I wanted. There was none of this wizz bang, new fangled thingy called delivery…

    • Wow, you got to drive ?! You had shops ?!

Back in my day we had to walk barefoot into the bush and catch our dinner with a sharpened stick.

      • +1

        You had sticks?!

  • Actually my friend renamed them "The Shit Guys" after our experience with purchase/delivery - they use Toll couriers and one of the actual couriers described his colleagues as "lazy and ignorant buggers". We had delivery postposed four times, then finally they turned up and just dumped the appliance inside the front door and left. We paid for premium delivery which includes removal of the old appliance and installation of the new one. They were happy to leave her with no access to her kitchen/living room (ie: no access to food, water and phone services) until the following week because they were busy and it was late Friday afternoon when they finally dropped off the appliance. Seriously never purchase from "The Shit Guys" unless it is something you can collect yourself and will need to after sales service because it's not worth the hassle.
