Along with these they have some great deals on the Synology NAS, Ironwolf Drives, and giving away a Surge Protector powerboard with the combo.

This is the combo I bought (though NAS and drives are at a good price individually too):
1 x Synology DS220j
2 x Ironwolf 4TB so I can RAID1 for failure protection, but can configure as 8TB
1 x Power board with Surge Protector and 2x2.4Amp USB

Total $557

Additionally:
- Postage (to Adelaide was $13.83)
- Payment fees (free with EFT, but 1% with Paypal/Credit card = $5.71)

I've been looking for a good performance, entry level NAS (file system for small office, no streaming/transcoding requirements) and this fits the bill nicely.

  Saw the post and thought "1 x 8TB" - might be worth updating to "2 x 4TB", much more flexible storage configuration eg using "mirroring" to improve system up time. (And disclaimer that mirroring =/ data security!)

    And sync the important folders with online services, such as onedrive, so you will get some sort of remote backups.

    I set up mine for overnight backups.

    The j series are very limited in a lot of areas. I personally wouldn't bother with one, but your use case might not match mine.
