I think this range is specifically designed to be subtle Star Wars watches. They're all clearly Star Wars in some way, e.g. the cheaper ones have a blaster on the second hand.
I love how subtle they are. The little details like the special stamped crown are great.

Nixons were great years ago when they first come out, positioning themselves as a premium surf brand. I still have my Tide Rover titanium.
Now they are just cheap looking poorly made shit.
What changed in your opinion?
Lots of plastic, poorly made clasps, they took the cheap route.

Nixon is way overpriced for mediocre watches. I will say at this price it would be worth buying, but I wouldn't buy unless it is 75% off.
The miyota movement inside is worth USD6.
I bought a Nixon Sentry about 18months ago. Its a watch I rarely wear, so very little use and abuse. It stopped working in my draw. Figured just a battery. Replaced it, still no go. Checked the old battery and its down to 0.6v (so dead). Checked all the battery contacts inside, look fine/ all touching.
Nixon warranty says 2 years, but void if you open the back (how do you change the battery?)
Will try Nixon and see what they say. If not, it has a Myota movement. Any recommendations on replacing the guts if I have to? As you say they can be obtained for $6?
Never in my life have I had a watch completely die. Assume it's power related or jammed internally.

Just bin it and get a Seiko 5. Or any Seiko/citizen solar. Cheap second hand on eBay. Nixon is not a watch maker.
@ShouldIBuyIt: Hahaha, yes my Seiko and citizen watches are still going just fine after 12 years daily use. The Nixon occasionally worn didn't last 2 years (not a scratch on it, but it's dead).
I got in touch with Nixon. After a bit of attitude and blaiming everyone else, they have agreed that they 'may' fix it if I post it to them. Clearly get heaps of returns and it's everyone else's fault (nothing to do with the crappy movement inside).
I bought it through Surfstich. Wonder if I need to pay return postage for a warranty item from an online retailer? How do I prove I sent it..hmmm?
Yupe, just received mine and it's definitely not worth the rrp. Cheapish looking and does look like a 70 dollar watch instead of 279.
