Pixel 2 XL Camera Stopped Working, 1 Week out of Warranty, Best Way Forward?

My phone was purchased through JB HiFi on a Telstra plan, that was 2 years and 1 week ago. The camera has stopped working, (black instead of picture for a few seconds before crashing).

Now my understanding is that I should have some recourse under ACL. I have spent the morning going through all the possible solutions with Google up to a hard reset, but this hasn't fixed the problems.

What is the best way to proceed with this, whom am I best of contacting, JB, Telstra or Google? What are the likely outcomes?

Contact JB (go in store), they send off to Google to get checked and hopefully repaired

    • Time to find that old phone that was still working then, guessing it isn't likely to be a quick process.

Mine did this too, however I still had 6 months on my plan so it was covered under warranty. It is a common issue, push for warranty coverage seeing as though it was so close to plan expiration. You can go through JB or directly to Google. I chose to go directly to Google and it the process was a little confusing but it was very quick.

      • Looks like Google have approved a replacement, did you send yours off first or did you do an authorisation hold, and if the latter, how much was it for?

Contact Google as well as JB, Google are pretty good with this sort of stuff in my experience.

  • You're protected by Australian consumer law regardless of product warranty. Look it up.
