No parking fines (and other COVID-19 City of Sydney Council relief measures)

From the facebook post (emphasis mine):

"We will provide rent relief for our tenants who need it. We will refund venue and advertising fees for any organisation that made a booking with us, but has now cancelled their event.

…

We are waiving outdoor dining fees, and if restaurants, cafes and bars have space to put chairs and tables outside to maintain their service, we encourage them to do so. We will not charge them for use of the footpath, or fine them for not having a permit. We will continue to complete our necessary health and safety inspections, but we will not charge the regular fee.

We have also directed our rangers to use discretion and only issue parking fines or other penalties if there is an imminent public or environmental health or safety risk."

    Considering the amount of parking fine posts in the OzBargain forum this should be popular.

    Actually reading the description probably actually won't help that much.

      If they stop issuing - there's no revenue to fund the rangers' salary..

    Shouldn’t this belong in the forums? It’s not actually a bargain as you still run the risk of being fined.

        What is it saying about parking fines then. Surely parking fines are specifically related to breaking parking laws?

    While I agree with the principle of no parking fines to reduce the risk to rangers, they shouldn’t be advertising that. Same with rbt. If people know they are t going to get a fine they’ll push the boundaries. If they don’t know there is i one testing/inspecting there is a good chance they’ll try to keep within the limits.
