Laptop for Home - Your Thoughts (Price around $1k)

Any thoughts on these two options (or others)? I had also been looking at Dell Vostro models, however they appear to have jacked up their prices over the last few days.

HP Pavilion 15" i5 (10th gen) 8GB/265GB $979 (including Corporate Employee Programme discount) from HP directly

or

ASUS 15" Vivobook Ryzen 5 3500U 8GB/512GB $1017 from JB HI FI

  • I got this one:-
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Latitude-Laptop-i5-6300U-Windows-R…

but it was by a different seller. It came with a HD screen & 256GB NVMe, that is what they rum, up to a max of 1TB; I just bought 1 TB anyway, it was meant to come with 128GB. It came with 8MB of RAM so I bought another stick from the States for around 100 bucks. But I was lucky, I paid $546 for mine so all up with a NVMe heat cooler, it was $800, a bargain for a Latitude laptop. Mine has the 6300u CPU thou, but that is OK. I don't know if this has touch screen, if you want touch screen, get this one from the same bloke, only 3 left:-

Buy a 1TB NVMe for it & a 8MB RAM for it & you will have one hell of a comp, the heat thing for the NVMe was cheap & I can point you to the RAM place in the States as there is only one place in the world that sells RAM for this comp and it is hard to find

I can also point you to a place where you can find an OS if you want to as well :)

  • I wouldn't go with the HP one you posted - CPU is underpowered.

The Asus one looks nice, however I have experienced it first hand with a few customers (I work in IT) - it's slow out of the box before even installing anything.

The Dell one would be my pick - however it says out of stock online.
Most places are selling out of half decent laptops as they all come from China.
