Any personal grocery shopper type apps or services?

Hi All,

Impromptu return to Melbourne from abroad and have been self-isolating in a hotel near Southern Cross.

With the rush to return, I didn't have time to coordinate things in advance, so I've been relying on Uber eats these last few days, but wouldn't mind a couple bags of pantry items and fruits. Outside of Coles/Woolies, who still haven't responded to my 'special' application for deliveries after 72h, is there any other personal shopper/delivery app or service that someone might be able to recommend?

For further context, asked the hotel if they could assist, they said they were understaffed and would only be able to help if it was a pick-up order (obviously, that's not happening at the minute), while fam and friends either can't (isolation) or won't (distance) be able to help for some days. I picked the CBD to stay to minimise travel on my return, seeing as normally I'm much further out.

Any leads would be appreciated. Hope everyone else out there in self isolation is holding up well :)

This is a good idea. You might get someone who lives nearby the hotel who will be going to the shops anyway.

I usually work in the cbd but I’m working from home, otherwise I would offer to help.

An inner west store, The Happy Apple, are still offering delivery but unsure of their current delivery timelines.

      • Thanks also for the tip. Also appreciate the thought :)

    • Thanks for the suggestion! Just had a squizz - is this like a freelancer type site, where I need to tender it out or something?

You ask for a service/task you want to be done and list a budget and closing time. People will then apply for it, potentially with a counter price or more detailed information and how long it will take. Then you pick someone and they do it.

        • Appreciate the clear explanation, cheers!

Victoria to start handing out 2 week self isolation packages call Victoria's coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398 from tomorrow.

    • Cheers for this, I wasn't aware and hadn't come across it so far in my research

They just announced it, it's being co-ordinated by the Red Cross.

We got approval from woolworths for self isolation delivery 48 hours after applying. This was approved Friday evening and the first available delivery slot was Sunday morning. Might be worth trying that avenue again.

    • Did you receive any email confirmation at all or anything? Will follow up or try it again.
