What is the best consumer laptop money can buy?

Hi all,

Due to isolation, I am sitting with my laptop all days. And I have a question pop up in my head:
"What is the best laptop (for video/graphic/gaming out there, if money is not a problem?"

And I mean a commercial laptop (not one from Nasa or those in IBM, and no MAC)

Thank you

    ASUS ROG Mothership.

    Retails for about $10k AUD.

    • he asked for the best, not the most expensive not that that is either of those things.

Best is subjective. If he means raw power, I suspect the Alienware Area 51m or perhaps the Acer Predator 21x. Though the latter has only had 300 produced so not sure how'd you get your hands on one now

        • As someone who bought a Alienware m17x R2 in 2010 and then upgraded it to all the best components it can handle and the machine is still more than usable now, I would think a fully loaded Area 51m would probably be pretty close to being right up there in terms of both power and expense. Won't be great in terms of value for money but OP specifically said if money was no problem

          • @Kenb0: I do own an Alienware now. And it is a beast, handle everything with ease. The only downside, it is heavier than my gf's desktop

            • @gozyla86: I used to travel for work with my beast and every time I pulled it out at airport security, they thought it was a massive console or something. Twin graphics cards, fully loaded, etc, it was over 5kg easily by itself. Just the power supply for it looked like a thick tablet. It was barely portable :p

      but that's a gaming laptop.
OP didn't ask what the most expensive laptop is.
gaming laptops are shit, the form factor is absurd. They're massive bricks, I wouldn't want one for free.
      They're far from the best.

  • Open ended question isn't it?
Akin to asking What is the best car on the planet if budget is not a constraint? Expect oddball suggestions from a Toyota Corolla to a Tesla Cybertruck.

You'll get better and practical suggestions if you say how much you're able to spend and what apps you intend to be using.

    • It is kinda a conversation, more or less. I have my Alienware and happy with its performance but the form and weight, I would rather use it as a desktop. So I am just wondering if there are any out there as powerful as an Alienware but, you know, more travel-able.

      • I was looking to find a more travel friendly version of my old Alienware beast some time ago and thought one of the new razor blades might make a good substitute. They seem quite powerful but in a smaller form factor

  • Dell XPS, in my opinion.
