Booked Flight to India Should I Cancel or Let The Airlines Cancel?

I had booked my flight to India last year via Virgin for 30th MARCH 2020, I am sure I am not travelling in this COVID situation.

Should I let Virgin cancel the flight or should I cancel now and get the money as travel credit?

Suggestions!

Leave it until almost the very last moment because they airline will then cancel and you should be refunded.

Maybe you can lead the horse to water by calling to confirm it.

  • I think Virgin have already cancelled international flights up to June 14th.
People on here are saying they are only offering travel credit not refunds.
If you can get a refund do it, they will probably not survive this.
if your flight was actually on Singapore Airlines, you probably stand a better chance of a refund. No one is even allowed to transit in Singapore because they are on to it.

    • yes mine is via singapore…good to know that

      Thanks!

yeah I just heard that Singapore has closed for transit passengers.

  • Leave it.

So many flights have already been canceled due to global lv 4 advisory. I'm surprised there are flights at all.

  • You still have a week to go. Wait for them to cancel and get a refund.

  • VIRGIN AUSTRALIA AND TIGERAIR

Virgin Australia and Tigerair Australia are waiving change fees for domestic and international bookings for travel up until June 30, 2020. This includes changes to dates and destinations, with a maximum of one change per domestic booking.

Payment well be required for any fare difference or applicable taxes.

  • I would wait for them to cancel also would expect Virgin to notify you of any flight changes but keep checking "manage my flight bookings".

    Go please

  • I had flights booked with Virgin for May and received an automated email stating they would be cancelled and I would receive a refund within 14 days.

    • really..!!

      I didnt receive any…

      • Did you book through Virgin directly or a third party website?

        • Virgin directly

  • Your flight leaves on the 30th Virgin is still flying until the 30th. However I would doubt they would fly out given they need to return, but maybe that depends on time they leave and have that flight return

Also when was your return flight, that probably will be the deciding factor. Plus are you an Australian Citizen/Resident (ie will you be able to come back) have all that info and then call Virgin

Virgin Australia announced on Wednesday it will suspend international flying from March 30 until June 14. (Canberra Times)
