Moving to New Place - Can You Still Get ADSL Even if Building Switched to nbn?

Not sure how it works. I saw good deal for iinet but they automatically moved to nbn page (it was $15 more expensive).

Just wanted to confirm that if you have NBN, then you need to switch to NBN only?

Any recommendation of good nbn deal?

Seeing these two as best deals:

A. Tangerine-Telecom: $50 https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Providers/Tangerine-…

B. Belong - $55

Haven't used either of them. Typically use TPG but tpg is only 10MBPs for $59.

Pretty sure you can't. Only way of knowing is making a phone call to the company that actually provides the service.

    • makes sense. I'll try out belong.

  • I had a situation where a building moved to NBN and took out ADSL, but then body Corp never completed the final connections or similar.

Ended up having to go to ADSL as only option, I think cost was $300 to reinstall an ADSL line they took out. Really stupid. That being said, in New place now and NBN is amazing, far better than any time I was on ADSL.

  • Try move your plan from old place?

    • I will. We have tpg now but with adsl

      • Ask them if you can have nbn with the adsl price, I did this with Optus, but have to sign a new 2 yr contract.

Correct, was NBN service is ready for service in your area, you can't connect to ADSL/CABLE plans anymore, only NBN plans.

  • Remember that to an extent, you get what you pay for with nbn. One of the biggest limiting factors for speed is how much capacity the provider purchases from nbn (it's a bit of a false economy but that's a discussion for elsewhere) and the way the cheaper providers keep their prices down is by sharing the same capacity across more users.

You could consider an AussieBroadband $69 plan with the first month free through one of their deals/referrals - which will essentially cost you $345 for 6 months of service, coming out at $57.5 a month for the first 6 months. Then reassess at that point if you're happy to drop down to a cheaper provider or pay the extra to stay with them.

    • Thanks. Good suggestion
