Need a Mid Range 50" Android TV-Linsar or EKO

Hi,

Can someone please give me an opinion if its better to buy a 50" Linsar TV from good guys and get a box like VTV / MI to make it a smart tv or rather just go with the 50" EKO android tv from Big W? What about warranty? I would rather buy a better quality tv which will last long than something will die off in 1-2 years time? Any suggestions about Hisense or TCL android tvs?

    All else equal (so not going into Linsar vs EKO or VTV vs Android TV), having the two components separate means you can upgrade one without upgrading the other).

        For example, if in two years time the TV breaks, if you bought the EKO, you would have to buy another smart TV, but if you bought the Linsar + Mi box you can buy any TV and keep using your Mi box.

        Honestly though, the usual consensus is that Hisense is the best balance between value and quality.

    I just got a TCL Android TV from Bing Lee. Very nice unit and the prices are good.

    Was trickier than I expected to find what I would call a truly smart tv - I don't think it should be called 'smart' if it just has a few preloaded apps fro Netfix etc.

    If you're looking at a TV + a separate smart box, look at the FFalcon range at JB Hi-Fi. Made by TCL.

    TCL 50P8M 50" 4K UHD Smart LED TV has recently dropped in price to $495.
    Just wait for the usual ebay, Good Guys, JB Hifi discounts to come that bring it under $450. 10%, 15%, 20% discounts have been available for this TV when it was at a higher price pretty frequently. Also expect some TV specials whenever the government hands out the $750 payment.
