BPAY Payment Was Submitted 4 Times

I created a BPAY payment to renew my rego (Service NSW) from the Gem Visa website. There was an error when I submitted, so I tried starting again. Unfortunately 4 BPAY transactions appeared in my account afterwards. I called their customer support and I was advised they can't reverse the transactions. I then called Service NSW the following day and they processed only 1 payment. They told me the other 3 were rejected, so they won't be able to give me a refund.

I'm not sure how I can get a refund. BPAY can't be contacted as of this time as their website's contact us doesn't work. Do I dispute the 3 transactions and call Gem Visa again? Which company will give me a refund?

If the payments were rejected, the money should bounce back to your account. How long ago was this?

  • The transactions were made on Monday, 23/03/2020.

Service NSW already told you they rejected the other 3, so wait and be patient. BPAY is not instant.
If money doesn't bounce back after a week (30/3), then chase it up. Don't worry about it now, nothing you can do.

Which company will give me a refund?

The one who receives your money, who/what are you paying for?

  • Watch it, if 3 were rejected and 1 refunded out of 4 BPays, you might have not made any payment on your rego, so it may now be unregistered unless to make another payment.

Look at your statement and if there are 3 rejections of payments, and a refund (4 lots) then your registration wont be valid
