A lot of the lego is showing much cheaper at Kmart or Amazon for me. Some of it is indeed cheaper at Target tho.

    i.e. $8 Amazon V $12 at target

    So shop around.

and these are about 20% cheaper than Target. Know this because I just paid 20% more for them a few days ago to get through the shutdown with my son.

    • As always, you need to know your pricing. For Speed Champions, Target is the cheapest with stock right now.

Shame they don't have the new CReator Fiat 500 yet!

      • The Fiat is a great model, well worth grabbing when you get the chance.

Any other speed champion fans here? What do you think of the new scale of the models?

        (I'm a huge fan)

They're..ok. Proportions are a better now but I'd really like to see more features. There are plenty of fan models that fit opening doors / hoods and detailed engines etc.

          • @Merlict: Yeah, I don't want that from my $20 models though.

But there is certainly a gap - both price and feature wise - in the range for more functional models, for sure.

            • @LaTerrible: Do people want to start spending say $50-60 each Speed Champions? I like they aren't fully featured, they just sit on display in my cabinet.

I think if you want opening doors etc then you move to the Creator sets like the Kombi, Beetle, Mini Cooper, DB5, Mustang and now the Fiat 500.

              • @nafe: I dunno, Lego sure would though, haha. Just pointing out the gap between $25 speed champion and $125 Creator models.

I love the speed champions as they are (especially the new 8-stud scale), they fit in beautifully between all the other Lego sets that are much larger in scale. They're fabulously playable too, since so few moving parts. Kids play with them as though they were any other toy!
