High branch vs Hand Chain Saw : Experience and Suggestions

I'm hoping someone here has useful input on this …

There's a horizontal branch that needs cutting but access is tricky (underneath other branches but no large limbs to use nearby) and, frankly, money.
It's about 10 cm in diameter and 8 m off the ground so out of reach of a polesaw.

I got a rope over it to try a cheap'n'nasty hand chain saw I had laying around and had confirmed was effective enough on an accessible limb of that size.
However, it was impossible to rotate so that the teeth were facing inwards and it snapped in the process; bad design and/or meatware error.

Something like the below looks like it would do the job.

Anyone had any experience with such a situation or product, or have any ideas/options?

Thanks.

If you do not feel safe doing it yourself, or you have doubts about you and your equipment working in concordance, call a professional.
You may be amazed at how little it costs.
An ID10T fault could cost you way more.

  • Make sure you have sufficient space to get clear.

Reviews sound good, with negatives being it got stuck.

This comments seems most helpful: This thing quickly got stuck, then it dawned on me that I was trying to cut into the pinchpoint. My son helped me add rope to make it longer and we stood as far away from one another as possible, absolutely no more problems.

    If you do this:

    1. it will avoid the chain getting stuck
    2. ensure no one gets hurt because the branch will fall between the two of you with enough clearance.
    • Yup - safety is the primary concern and technique is critical for the success of these tools. I've already attached a secondary rope to control the fall, if required.

There's been no better options suggested so seems this may be a viable option.
