Looking to Buy a PS4 Pro

Hey guys,

Looking to get a new PS4 PRO.

Want to spend under $400.

Any suggestions?

  • JB Hi-Fi has it at $429, can you get 5% discounted JB Hi-Fi giftcards?

    • Yep. Not sure I’d do that or good guys price beat

      • I tried good guys price match yesterday. Best they could do, they said, was $545. Not even close.

      • Amazon had the pro with the fortnite bundle for $429 a few days ago.

    • JB back to > $500, amazon now at $499, and while BigW still has advertised at $429, can't find stock anywhere.

From checking Gumtree over the past few days, anything sub $390 for a used PS4 pro is being snapped up immediately.

Everyone is looking for isolation entertainment it seems!

easter special ? probably not happening

I'm trying to get any PS4 to play FIFA in lock down and am surprised at the price they are at now which isn't a whole lot cheaper than when I used to trade consoles three years ago!

PS5 will be backwards compatible. You could buy a PS4 regular in the meantime. I'd still get the Pro though, life is too short for regular versions of game consoles.

    • I wouldn't drop $400 on a console about to be superseded, save the money for the PS5 imo. I got the reg PS4 for less than half the price of the pro.

      • No concrete release date, rumours of a delay because of Coronavirus, and speculated the PS5 will likely cost close to 1K (AU). If history has shown us anything the previous console is at least supported for another year after a new console release.

And this is coming from a custom PC guy, haven't owned a console since the original PS2 / Xbox / Gamecube days. But I'm looking at a PS4 for Last of us 1&2 and FF7 remake.

Last I heard only the "top 100" PS4 games would be backwards compatible.

      • I couldn’t even name more than 50 ps4 games.

        • You don't get to pick 100. Only need one that's not on their list and you're SOL.

They're planning to expand the list as time goes on.
I suspect a large portion of the PS4 library will work at launch

Lastly, we’re excited to confirm that the backwards compatibility features are working well. We recently took a look at the top 100 PS4 titles as ranked by play time, and we’re expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on PS5. With more than 4000 games published on PS4, we will continue the testing process and expand backwards compatibility coverage over time.

    Buy a used one.

    • I've been monitoring Slim prices on eBay. $300+ !
      Even for the Phat models!

  • Trade in? Speaking of which, does any other retail or online outlet besides EB do trade ins? Looking to upgrade my reg PS4. EB have suspended trade ins…

    • JB-Hi-Fi has also suspended trade-ins, not sure if they accept consoles anyway.
Gamesmen the only other I know

Can you wait for the ps5 release?
2-3 weeks after, it should be a lot cheaper.

Edit: That's what I am doing.

Yeah but this is the best time to play PS4 games while we self in isolation.
More use of PS4, best value for money.

      • Good point!

    • the series x and ps5 are being released near christmas so that's quite a long time from now

With the current climate the way it is for potentially the next 4-6 months i can see things getting delayed like a lot of other stuff in the world.

  • You'd think retailers would have a sale on the console with the impending release of FF7 remake. But it is a weird time we're living right now.

Still bummed missed out on the $369 pro sale Sony had recently, sold out quick.

  • If you live in Western Sydney - I'd sell you mine for $400 - not even used

    • I'll take it off your hands

      • soz mate, already sold.

  • Still hanging out for a special. Shame I missed the $429 deal. Cheapest I can find a bundle for is the one at jbhifi for $529.
I guess I need more patience.
