OzBargain in June 2011 Readers Digest Article - Text of Small Article

Not that I normally read it, but it was in the Doctors surgery

If I get a chance I might upload the pic from my phone, otherwise here's what it said:

"Deals change constantly, so you might find a free hair dye sample, an LCD TV, a discounted washer and dryer (including delivery), or even a banquet for $49 (normally $180) at a leading Indian Restaurant"

It was under the heading "online bargain basements", in an article about "getting the best deals"

I kind of think they missed the whole user contribution thing and just posted what they could find on the day they researched the article.

Anyway I thought it was interesting and that the ozbargainers might be interested :)

I await my cookie for spotting this!

hmm. Got noticed by Readers Digest — is that a good thing? :)

But yes indeed sounds like they have missed what's the most valuable thing on this website — the community. Not just finding good bargains, but also discussions on those deals.

For example, I was looking at this Zizzle offer spotted by @VicTripper, which got heavily voted down by the community. It's great to see the community comes in fiddling through the fine print text digging out issues with those offers. And kudos to @VicTripper for not getting too annoyed with his submission getting voted down, but happy to leave it up so others can benefit from the investigation.

+100! I've learnt quite a few things reading the experiences of people who have used the goods or services, or are knowledgeable about them. We're all smarter shoppers for OzBargain. Kudos, Scotty!
