LEGO City Passenger Train - 60197 - $119

Not the cheapest ever, but good price. RRP is $199, but normally around $150 . Also cheaper than (most) current second-hand listings on ebay, Gumtree & FB marketplace.

EDIT: looks like only pick up works. Out of stock for delivery. Plenty of stock in ACT stores.

But its the covid-19 edition so it comes with no minifig passengers

    • +3

Correction, should be 2, 1 driver, 1 passenger edit with built in magnets to repel each other to maintain Lego distance.

I prefer the CCN edition, which came with a dude slamming a bottle of Little Fat Lamb while his missus racially abused someone getting on at Chatswood.

      Discontinued now, I think.

  • Can Amazon price match?

    • Amazon had this price for weeks already. But Big W you can pay via 5% off Wish gift cards and there's no cashback on Amazon any more.

https://www.target.com.au/p/lego-reg-city-trains-cargo-train… is more expensive but has lots more parts and IMO more play value.

Why not get both? Setting up disastrous Lego train crashes and derailments is great fun.

Buy two, join them to makes it look better IMO :)
Keep the power option for Harry Potter train etc.

    • I have this for kid, i wonder tho why the remote has two controllers, can it be used for other trains/series e.g harry potter you mentioned?

      • +1

You can control one motor per colour/signal on the controller, just keep pressing the middle button to switch between. The left and right controls 1 or 2 parts of whatever you've connected to the receiver part; motor etc

        • this…beat me to it :)

        • Thanks that means we need another series of train set right, do you know which set compatible?

          • @countmein: The older sets before this uses IR whilst this is Bluetooth, you can buy this motor and receiver separately. You can even get the app and control from your phone with the added sound effects (albeit played via phone speakers)
The recent cargo train is the same type and any other sets that are remote controlled since

    • This is exactly what I planned to do. HP train seems to be scarce now.

  • I wonder can we buy separate tracks to make it go around the house….might need a bigger train set for letters.

    • +1

Of course you can buy separate tracks! But LEGO City line as a whole has been getting quite expensive lately.

Check Ebay for track, I got a huge box used for pennies.

  • This reminds me of the tangarra/ city rail trains which makes me feel angry… back then, city rail was unreliable, overcrowded and expensive.

Got this with free delivery in SA. Good work, OP.

I think with 6 months of self isolation, better build a "Lego city" than going nuts at home.

    This one is amazing!

I think all lego train set should have an optional camera/s modulars to attached to the trains.
