Canesten Hygiene Lemon Laundry Rinse is both antibacterial and antifungal and eliminates bacteria and fungi from your washing.

The fungi that can cause conditions like Fungal Nappy Rash and Thrush can find their way into your laundry. Washing, especially at cold temperatures may not completely remove the Bacteria and Fungi in your laundry, which can increase the risk of re-infection.
An infectious cycle can commence and cross-infect other family members when they come into contact with fabrics that still contain Bacteria and Fungi.
Adding Canesten Hygiene Laundry Rinse to each wash will deliver hygienically clean laundry, helping to break the cycle of cross-infection for yourself and other family members.

  • Eliminates Bacteria and Fungi from your washing.
  • Ideal for towels, bed linen, underwear, baby clothes and sweaty sport clothes.
  • Gentle on fabrics.
  • Kills 99.9% of germs.
  • Eliminates 99.9% germs.
  • Helps prevent cross-infections.
  • Helps protect the whole family.

It is $7.49 at Chemist Warehouse although out of stock currently.

    • +6

Why negative votes? When I commented, the post has no information about $7.49 price.

    i carry soap !

  • Actually I just cancelled my order.

  • Amazon's choice for "hand sanitiser"? lol

  • Great. I was down to my last tube of Canestan.

  • +2

I've started using this for my bum since we ran out of toilet paper

    • +2

it's only for rinsing .. you will need to use normal laundry powder after that

    • +1

      "Warning: for external use only"

      • What is internal if not just a sheltered external?

  • is this supposed to be a corona virus buy ? no bleach alcohol or peroxide in it so does it kill the virus at all ?

    • No, Canesten is an antifungal.

      • +10

This stuff killed my buddy, a while back.
        He was a fungi.

    • +2

Soap kills the virus, so you can just use detergent.

      • -3

In a hot wash. In a cold wash, this might help.

        • +6

Temperature doesn't matter, the detergent alone is enough.

This Aldi product seems to have the same active / concentration, for $3.69

    Di San Laundry Sanitiser 1L
    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/groceries/laundry-household/laund…

I am not suggesting anyone makes a special trip, by any means..just if you're shopping at Aldi during Coronafest. I don't think either product is effective against coronavirus

  • They had a heap of this at Costco the other day but didn't notice what the price was.

  • Sometime in Jan/Feb this was $4.10 at both Coles and Amazon

    • +1

Yes, it was a half price special for $4 back then at Coles. I've been buying this for years. About a year ago it's full price was $6.

  • $8.20 at woolworths, bought some yesterday.

if your buying for corona - forget it as benzalkonium chloride is a non-alcoholic so defeats the purpose….

    • +2

It is actually fit for purpose

      https://ww2.health.wa.gov.au/~/media/Files/Corporate/general…

You are confusing hard surface and cleaning recommendations with hand sanitizers. It is not a good replacement for alcohol/ethanol based hand rubs, no reason to say you can’t use it on clothing as a form of cleaning it from contaminants.

Besides an extra cleaning feature for keeping COVID-19 at bay it does also perform its regular task such as killing fungus and bacteria that it was brought onto the market for

  • +1

I usually add a lil dettol at times into the washing machine but this is more suitable. Thanks OP.

  • +6

Normal soap kills the coronavirus - its an enveloped RNA virus.

  • Has anyone with fungal toenails used this and can comment on if it helps with washing socks?

    • +2

If the fungal infection is within the toenail, you'll need to get a script for antifungal medication from your GP. Creams, nail treatments etc don't work due to the natural layers within the nail. Oral treatment will help healthy nail to grow, and for the infected nail to grow out and eventually be trimmed off.

Having said that, this product might be good for helping infection like athlete's foot and jock itch to return.

  • +2

Gone. It seems anything antibacterial related sells out within 30 mins on Amazon.

    • +3

That's because "smart" people think bacteria and viruses are the same thing.

  • +6

There is no need for antifungal treatment of clothes. The only thing it does is breed resistance. Do NOT waste your money

    • +1

Absolutely agree. Does ZERO for the health of the average person, but will absolutely breed resistance in bugs when it is actually needed.

Also it's filthy expensive for what it claims to do - e.g you can buy 1kg of the "oxygen bleach" sodium percarbonate for $2.50 which will kill just as many bugs and has more washes in the bottle. And it works better against COVID.

      • Would it fade colours though?

I use Canesten to stop polos getting a mildew smell, works well but open to alternatives.

        • Oxygen bleach can bleach if you leave it soaking for ages. I just use a few tsp to the washing to get rid of the mildew smell.

  • +1

I'm quite sure I saw this on Amazon earlier today for $39.99 for the 1L. I turn away for a couple of hours and it goes on sale and gone in the blink of an eye.

  • $6.99 at Costco for those with a membership.

  • Just use vinegar.

    Back in stock

  • Got one

  • If the date of manufacturing shown on the label illustration is representative of the product being sold, then it is approx 3.5 years old … hmmmm :(

    • -1

Oh yeah, every time a product is advertised they take a new photo. It's just good business sense. Lol.

  • thanks

  • Quick it says Anti-Bacterial!

  • This site should be renamed to 'Oz Panic Buy'. A few months ago this post would have got negs. Seems like anything cleaning based is getting posted and they're not real bargains.

You could argue that the posters of these 'deals' are helping the OB community which is fair enough. But come on people let's go hunting for real bargains and save the community money rather than giving Amazon all the love.
