eBay Item Hasn't Been Delivered after Almost Two Months. What Should I Do?

Back in early February (9th) this year, I ordered a pair of Nintendo Switch Joy Cons via eBay and the item location is at Quakers Hill, NSW and my address is Canley Vale and it's sent by standard postage which costs $10.50 and it's 1st April so, I'm still waiting.

The seller has recently deregistered from the website however, has sold several other items and has 100% good feedback. So, is there any way to know how to deal with a delayed product because since the corona virus is affecting deliveries. I do know whether this might be the case or there might be other issues such as wrong address, lost items, etc.

    Open eBay dispute?

      alright, not a bad decision

      • I think you only get a limited time to fo this…45 days maybe?

Important thing to note for future eBay purchases is that a seller can easily lie about the item location. Instead you check their profile and it'll say the location. You'd be surprised at how many claiming AU stock are actually in China or Hong Kong. Though to be fair some genuinely do have AU stock.

    • Lot of these are doing it either as drop shippers or avoiding GST (or both).

  • Did they give you a tracking number?

    • i didn't receive a tracking number from the seller.

      • You paid $10.50 for shipping and didn't get a tracking number? Did they even tell you they sent it?

Also just because they have 100% good feedback doesn't mean it's from selling; they could have bought cheap items to get good feedback

        • they told me they're about to send it

          • @Plane: That doesn't mean they actually sent it.

Is this your first time ordering a parcel or something? As someone else stated, why did you wait two months rather than two weeks before doing anything about it?

            • @kerfuffle: Because I ordered something from eBay before and the delivery took about a month so, for this one. I decided to wait until there's any updates on the delivery from the seller.

              • @Plane: A month from Sydney to Sydney? Really? Did the listing say it was going to take a month to be delivered to you? Or like max seven days?

                • @kerfuffle: not really, it said it'll arrive in two weeks

                  • @Plane: Two weeks is still too long for Sydney to Sydney.

  • You can open a PayPal dispute. Its too late to open an eBay postage dispute I beleive.

Not sure if the coronavirus has impacted the logistics chain between Quakers Hill ans Canley Vale..

Even if it did, as a fellow Sydneysider, it doesn't take that long to deliver something from one Sydney suburb to another Sydney suburb, unless something happened like AusPost sorting machines constantly reading the wrong code (I had a parcel from Parramatta take six weeks to be delivered to Sydney CBD because of that).

The question is whether the seller actually sent the item in the first place. As the OP stated that they paid $10.50 for postage, they surely would have received a tracking number from the seller …

Even if it rains everyday in Sydney.

  • Try and get ebay involved, I had to do this a month or so ago and it went smotther than I expected. On your order there should be a button (unless there's a time limit like some users are suggesting) that says "I haven't received my item". That opens a dialog between you and the seller but ebay is now aware that there is an issue, when you send that message ebay gives the seller 3 days to respond. If they don't respond in time you can ask ebay to step in in which case they'll look for evidence that the item hasn't been send (i.e. no tracking number or no progress in the shipment). Once they find the case in your favour they'll refund you within 2 days. Since ebay own paypal the refund process is pretty efficient.

    • Ebay no longer own paypal. They sold it off in 2015.

You were most likely scammed. The item never left the seller, if they even had it in the first place. Such a high valued item like a Nintendo Switch should have always been dispatched with a tracking number. This ensures that both seller / buyer could settle in peace, however; seeing as you chose to left it a while on, renders you ineligible to dispute on eBay as "item not received". Like others have suggested, you can open a PayPal dispute or perform a credit card chargeback, if applicable.

Be careful next time, we're not safe from scammers on eBay, let alone Gumtree.

Why did you wait two months before doing anything about it? If you don't receive it in 1-2 weeks you should be checking with the shipping company (but since you didn't receive a tracking number, the seller).

Assuming you have tried to contact the seller and it was fruitless, the next step is opening an ebay dispute.
