  • Worth noting you can buy each MCC game individually. So Halo Reach and Halo CE are $9.16ea with the 20% off.

    • +3

You can. With the collection you will eventually get all 6 games when they are available, so compared to buying them all individually at $9 one can save quite a bit.

      • Does that mean we pay for 6 games now but can only download and play 2 of them? I thought Halo MCC was already available on PC?

        • +3

          Yes.
Just read what's on the Steam page.

Halo: Master Chief Collection includes 6 great Halo experiences. Halo: Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary are currently playable. The remaining experiences will be available later in 2020. Purchase The Master Chief Collection Bundle or individual titles for access to available game content.

Halo is still so good, feels like it hasnt aged a day.

    • +9

For a game that came out in 2001 its still so "smooth" to play. Most other games from that time are clunky by comparison.

      • +3

Halo has had a lot of work done to it to make it play so smooth since launch. Remember these are remasters.

  • Anyone played Halo Wars on PC? I played on XBOX because that's all I had at the time, and it was interminable, as you can imagine. Is it worth re-investing for Steam now that I have something that can run it?

    • +2

loved the first one but I would recommend the sequel, it's far more polished and balanced. I still play online frequently and there's always a 3v3 game available

  • You'd be better off getting a gamespass for PC sub for that price and enjoying a lot more games.

    • And then the game you have finished 50% leaves gamepass….ooppps?!!? ;-)

      • +3

Maybe true for some. None of the MS (or Ms partner) games are going anywhere though. No risk of that with HMCC, Halo Wars, Sunset Overdrive and Wasteland

        • +1

It also could be the games I play but I am yet to have a game I am half through leave. Most of the games that left are not ones I wanted. But your mileage may vary.

How can you know for sure? I would not trust that even if it is their own property.
You never know what any business does, logical or not.
If I put 100+ hours into a game and there is the chance I could be playing such game repeatedly over a long period of time I'd rather not take such risk.

          • +2

@Lysander: I would be willing to bet that your license with steam is more likely to run out through some weird loophole before MS pulls halo from gamespass. And given this is a site for bargain hunters, I just thought that people may want to know there is a more cost efficient way to play these games.

I do agree with you though. If you are die hard for a game then buy it. God knows I have FF7 on like 6 platforms these days so I can play in whenever and wherever I want. Makes not sense from a financial standpoint.

            • @curtturtle: Not trying to pick a fight. I hope none of that comes of combative.

            • -1

@curtturtle: On 95% of all game deals I post someone is saying "The game is on gamepass."

Great that it is but it is not the same as buying a game. Plus everybody interested in gaming and following gaming a little bit knows there are a lot of games on gamepass but games do leave quite regularly and when they leave it is with little or no notice which can cause issues.

Plus, once gamepass charges $15 or $20 a month things will be different as well.

Your loophole theory will not materialise - the license terms contain terms that Steam cannot enforce, especially in Europe but that is to the benefit of the consumer rather than Steam.

To cut a long story short: I do not trust MS or Steam but gamepass and purchasing the eternal license for a game are different things either way.
