Monitors - MSI OPTIX MPG341CQR or MSI OPTIX MAG341CQ?

Hey guys I have almost everything bought only thing left is the monitor. I'm down to choosing between these two and there is quite a price difference in the two.

MPG341CQR is $1579
MAG341CQ is $829

Both are 34" curved wide screen, 3440x1440p and same brightness and contrast ratio.

Major differences are..

100hz compared to 144hz
4ms compared to 1ms

That's pretty much it.

I don't play competitively like pubg, fortnite I only play sim, rpg, and well pretty much everything else besides those online shooter games.
My current setup is a 4k TV at only 60hz but I'm finally using one of the spare bedrooms has a game room.

But wanting more then just my opinion, is the extra $750 justifiable?

I play RTS and League of legends games and i use a 32" Viewsonic VX3258-2KPC-MHD it looks "overall" LARGER then both the 34" MSI Monitors you listed and the 34" Acer.

I prefer 32" 16:9 monitors vs 34" 21:9 monitors as they support more games and i hate when those black lines pop on on each side of the screen using the 34" 21:9 monitors making them effectively 27" monitors. This happens on games, movies, tv show and youtube content.

The 32" Viewsonic VX3258-2KPC-MHD is also awesome.. colours are better then any monitor I've ever used in my life, even most IPS monitors i've used in the past cant come close to this. I guess the MVA 8-bit + FRC (10bit) panel is really pretty close to 10bit from the looks of it and the blacks on MVA a way better then IPS.

  • Those MSI models are quite old. I looked at buying one a while back. I didn't get one because of widely reported issues getting G-sync to work and resulting flickering.

I bought a Acer 32" XZ321QU for $549 and I love it. Bargain for what you get. G-sync works perfectly despite not being on the registered list.

  • yeah the cheaper msi doesnt come with usb ports or speakers..not that it matters since im getting external speakers and have plenty of ports on pc. but its just the principal of spending nearly $900 not getting those basic things. i have shifted my attention to ASUS XG35VQ. the written and video reviews all are pretty good. im trying to go as big has i can while staying under $1500 and being 1440p.

    • yeah the ASUS XG35VQ looks better then the MSI's above :) plus its 1" larger

  • I got the MAG341CQ for $630 and pretty happy with it. You can easily overclock the display to 115hz if you really need to via Nvidia control panel custom resolutions.

    • Where did you get it for $630 ? Best I can find is $729 at Officeworks.

      • One of the older eBay 20% off sales, got it from FTC computers who went under recently.

  • HDR is a good perk to have.

  • anyone have experience on this? says uses samnsung panel, on paper it has some good numbers.

    1440p
    34 inches
    144hz
HDR ( not a big deal for me )

only con i can see is ita fixed…dont believe it can adjust up or down..although i was told they use B grade panels

    • I wouldnt spend $1000 on a Kogan when $698 for an Acer ED347CKR form office works gives you a better monitor in QTY, specs and reliability
Or $729 for the MSI MAG341CQ

Kogan would use C grade panels from samsuing.. Apple and big companies like them get the B grade .. heck even Samsung only use their A grade panels for their expensive stuff.
