Toilet Paper Back to Shelf at a Markup Price?

Correct me if wrong. I noticed the toilet papers were back on shelf at my local woolies. However at a markup price: $7 for Quilton 6 rolls pack.
Before the panic buying, I normally bought toilet papers when they were on sale so barely noticed the original prices for 6 pack. But I did remember Quilton 20 rolls pack for $10 as a normal price before the panics buying.

I walked out Woolies with a $7 6-rolls-pack feeling very un-oz-bargaining.

Lets just say you can blame the hoarders for the new pricing.

Coles still have 20 rolls for $10

  • My local Woolies had 8 rolls of Quilton for $7.50 or 20 rolls of Sorbent for $9.50.

    • uesed to be $3.75 for 8 rolls

      • only when specials

  • they have stocked lower amounts
so more get toilet paper but at a higher price

Some Coles/Woolies if lucky have a small pack at high prices . Love the 2 people in the thread that say big packs are available at good prices at probably 1 off locations not in shopping malls in the middle of the outback . Not in their imaginary world of them I heard reports that Brandon Park Coles has big packs only because of scaring people away with the 2 Employees's that had the virus . But again I would only advice to try in the morning not on a busy day like now .

It was so long ago, no one can remember.

Historians say there used to be so much TP, people would use it to decorate their houses to celebrate special occasions.

  • I've been to 2 different Coles multiple times in the last week and saw 20pk for $10. Plenty of stock in both stores. I just assumed that the TP crisis is over.
Pasta is still an issue as the selection was limited but that is a supplier issue I was told by a Coles employee.

    • I haven't seen any TP in my Coles for quite a while, Woolworths has been well stocked though for a week and a bit now.

      • I'm the opposite, at our two local Woolies we haven't seen TP for weeks, but the Coles had three different varieties yesterday! (Quilton 20 pack for $10, Kleenex 24 pack for $12.xx and Coles brand pack of 4 rolls)

      • It must depend on where you live. Our local Coles hasn’t had TP available for weeks but the Woolworths has had plenty (8 and 9 packs though - no larger packs). Nothing at our local Costco too when we ventured in last week.
I do shop late afternoon though so not sure if all the good stuff is going early.

    Waffle stomp is free

  • Certainly not, they’re just not on special.
But as others have said the 20pk for $10 is available in most stores.

  • Ugh, TP is so… yesterday.

  • Costco northlakes has quilton 3 ply 36 pack for $13.something or 30 pack for $11.something. was plenty there too

  • The price better come straight down once the massive supply glut hits due to increased production, now that the hoarders should have filled their basements fully

It’s totally reasonable for retailers to recoup this extra expense from customers.
    https://www.9news.com.au/national/coronavirus-coles-unveils-…

The retailer is spending an extra $1 million a week on extra cleaning and security guards, with special attention paid to sanitising high contact surfaces including trolleys, baskets, and checkout areas.

Be careful who you shop with. At the end of this Woolworths / Coles will be the two major outlets that will survive and then we're all stuffed.

    • Amazon is here to stay.

If the margins for food items goes up because of a duopoly, Amazon will enter the market.

  • Go to Aldi. Prices stay the same there

    • I've given up on trying Aldi, there's never any vegetables anymore.

The every second day 30 minute walk there and 30 minute walk home in the sun to find out there's nothing didn't help either.
