What Happened with Caffitaly Coffee Machine?

It has been months since I noticed that there is no more Gloria Jeans Caffitaly compatible capsules. Now I can't find any of Woolworths brand Caffitaly capsules. Is it being phased out of the market or something? The only brand I could see is from Coffee Grinders.

I have one relatively new Caffitaly coffee machine and still works really well. It would be shame if I couldn't find any capsules.

I use the 'Perfetto' ones from Kogan. I buy them in 100 packs. They aren't great but they aren't terrible

      Now available: 3.6 Roentgen™ Coffee.

  • See if your current ones can be reused (just take off the plastic sleeve).

If worse comes to worse and they stop making Caffitaly pods, keep all the current ones you have and get a grinder and buy beans, grind the beans into the pods and reuse the pods.

But you have to start saving the pods now.

Alternatively you might be able to buy a few steel reusable pods - use as above.

    • Yeah I forgot about reusable pod … I should explore that option now. Do you have any suggestion on the reusable pod?

Your Caffitaly coffee pods are safe !

Coca-Cola Amatil (Australia) extended its exclusive Master Supply Agreement for the sales and distribution of the Caffitaly machine and coffee capsule system to include Australia

Caffitaly’s coffee machines are compatible with the coffee capsules of Coca-Cola Amatil’s Grinders Coffee brand.

The partnership with Grinders Coffee, a respected café-quality coffee brand, will accelerate future growth through a new range of machines and Grinders-branded capsules.

    • Yeah Grinders is the only brand left I still see in Woolworths.

  • Thanks for all replies … but is Caffitaly brand being phased out?

    • You did read my earlier comment…right?

      • Yes but the news you posted was from 2018 which I thought was when the brand was introduced in Australia? Or has it been introduced for the first time much before that?

The main brand for capsule in the pas has been Woolworths home brand and Gloria Jeans. Now they are gone from the shelves.

Caffitaly was here prior to 2018 - I recall friends bought their coffee machine ~2015/16.

The Agreement with Coca-Cola Amatil means that Caffitaly machines and capsules have transitioned over to Amatil's Grinder brand.

  • Yep, the woolies brand one is gone - went in yesterday and planned to buy up everything they had on the shelf after seeing this - except the bay has been relayed and now only the Grinders brand on the shelf. A bit annoyed as I liked the one in the red packet and it was only $3.70 or something for 10 pods.

The Grinders ones are still there - 4 different varieties. I've always found them to be a bit meh. I bought a couple (were on special for $5 for 10) but will likely be going back to the old bean grinder machine when we're done if I can't get anything else.

Also in response to some earlier comments - Caffitaly has been around for AGES. It was originally the "MAP" brand, we've had our machine for probably 7 years. The husband saw it in the Officeworks catalogue for $35 or something ridiculous with 160 pods and he'd just moved into a new building for work and they were having coffee machine wars (ie, no one in leadership could decide on what to do about a coffee machine) so he went and bought one of these to tide the team over until a decision was reached. I'd always been able to source short dated pods online (80 pods for under $10) but the last year or two I haven't been able to get them and was using the woolies ones.

    • I know right … the red woolish one is good. Will miss that.

  • I too was upset to see that caffitaly pods are no longer available, so after some research I found out that Aldi coffee pods are compatible with the caffitaly coffee machine. I am happily using Aldi’s Xpresso (k-fee) pods in my caffitaly machine now. They have lots of different strengths and flavours to choose from, and also have decaf pods.

    • Oh … thanks for the info. I didn't know Aldi's pod is compatible with Caffitaly. Have you got any issue at all? Or they are perfectly compatible (size etc).

  • The Red Aldi pods strength 14 are just OK! Can't compare to the Grinders strongest pod where you get a nice rich creme on top.
The Aldi ones pass through the machine too quickly and seem diluted.

All of our 5 local Wollies stores now don't stock Grinders at all!!!!

THIS IS THE END me thinks for Caffitaly!

    • In the same situation. You can still order some pods from Grinders online - $6 for 10 and free delivery on orders over $60
I have emailed them just today to ask what is happening with their capsules. Grinders is the only ones I like. Still have some in Coles, Aldi, Kogan, Urban Brew - but none are comparable =( Coles just released a new line under their own brand. Maybe its grinders rebadged? Have to find out.
If not, thinking of either getting a free L'Or machine (but cannot understand why would anyone spend $120 on capsules and then wait for a month for a machine to turn up, as they have no stock in stores). Or just get a Nespresso and be like everyone else =)
Creating a new post to ask for a basic, easy to use, manual machine to see if its an option

      • got a response - shortage of pods with delays in delivery from Italy. They are coming soon

  • No available pods now so tried the Aldi pod. Long back a friend tried them in a caffitaly machine and the grounds came through, the ones I have just tried didn't. I pulled the pod apart and there is some rudimentary filtering. As already stated above the flow is too fast thus lack of pressure. I don't want to try other pod systems as they have less coffee per pod to what I am used to. I also tried repacking the used pods but the hassle is just too much trouble.

    • order online while still available

  • The K-fee capsules at Coles are compatible with Caffitaly machines

Coles Urban Coffee Culture are Caffitaly and arent bad at all :)

      Thanks for the info.

I think I have tried St Remio K-fee before but it didn't work with the machine I used in the office. Like the coffee won't be dispensed at all and the machine shows error light.

I will give Coles Urban coffee …

In the meantime I have enough Grinder stock since they are back in Woolworths.
