Anywhere Got Decent Webcams in Stock?

Does anyone know of anyone selling decent webcams and that have them in stock?

So far I've had two online orders for webcams cancelled because they sold out and wouldn't have any in stock within a reasonable time.

They're the new toilet papers apparently. Were you fixed on a specific model or will any reasonable stock do? I might be able to connect you if we have the right one.

    • I'm trying to get anything Logitech c9xx series that a reasonable price - and can be here within a few days.

I have a friend at Officeworks that says it was like a swarm of locusts when the whole work from home thing started, they sold out of chairs and desks and cameras etc in under two days.

Nope. No stock anywhere. Don't bother with eBay unless you want to buy someone's 720p dinosaur from 10 years ago for $80 bucks.

Use your phone. If you use Zoom you can log into both your phone and PC at the same time. Use your phone as a wireless webcam.

If using some other conferencing software then both iPhone and Android have apps that allow your PC to recognise your phone as a webcam when plugged in via USB.

    • I think I packed away my relic from 2006, time to go through my boxes and maybe make some money!!!

      • I gave my 2.1 mp one to Vinnes a year or two ago :(

        • Landlords chose poorly. They should have invested in webcams and PC monitors lol.

try Epoc App - turns your phone into a web cam

  • My advice is to buy the cartridge and not the printer, also spending more now can save you in the longer run, back in 2007 i bought a Dell 5110cn Colour Network Laser Printer for $500, and it still runs till this day on the original cartridges and has survived 7 house moves in this time. the cartridges are $200 delivered for a set and last 8000 pages each colour and 10000 black.

    500 / 12 years = $42 a year

I am also a fan of the Epson Expression Premium XP series, their midrange model is the Epson Expression Premium XP-6100 is $179, and the compatible replacement ink set 6 pieces and high yield is $50 delivered

oh good, it wasn't just me thinking 'where the hell do I put a printer cartridge in a camera?'

  • Merged from I'm after a Webcam to Connect with My Class

    Hi.

After a webcam for zoom meetings both with staff and with my students.

The quality doesn't need to be top of the line, but something quite good obviously. Mic isn't necessary, as I've got a headset which I can use. It's just that my monitor doesn't have an inbuilt one. I'd like one with a seamless installation if possible. They're probably all like that, but thought I'd throw it out there.
Price - Cheaper the better. It just has to work reliably.

Would need it delivered within 2 weeks, ready for term 2 of school.

    Thanks all!

    • Webcams have been in high demand, out of stock in lots of places.
Try Logitech brand for easy install, but will be very hard to find a bargain.

    • you want it within 2 weeks then you really need to order it today, there are very few webcams in stock anywhere. I would suggest Mwave or Amazon, or even Aliexpress and pay for faster shipping.

I went hunting for a webcam a couple of weeks ago, and what was available was really bad or really expensive (as in over a grand for some).

    • Would need it delivered within 2 weeks, ready for term 2 of school.

Then you're ordering about 2 months too late…..

Every man and his dog wants a webcam atm.

Why not install the zoom app on your phone and video conference using that?

      • Yup, works just fine on iPad and iPhones if you don't want to shell the $ out for just a webcam.

    • +2

You're in luck if you don't mind used, someone just put up an ad for 10+ Logitech C930e for $90+shipping on eBay. Those were going for $200+ last week.

    • iVCam is good if you have an Android or IOS device (I personally haven't been able to get Android to work with it, but apparently it works for others).
You just install the iVCam app onto your device and the iVCam client on your PC, plug in your device and you should get a webcam feed.
Free version does have a watermark though. However, the paid version is only $7.99USD.

      • Droidcam for android works very well.

Install app on pc and phone. Dont need to plug phone into computer, uses wifi (or usb).

Plus its free without any watermarks.

But yes, agreed. OP, this is probably the best way to do it for free. Connect your phone to your computer and use it as a webcam through your PC.

        • Droidcam pro is only $4.99 too and can do HD (720p) easily.

Using this now with OBS to switch teams / other video conferencing software.

Another plus is it can run with your device locked/screen off (I found iVCam and others couldn't do this).

      • Try enabling USB debugging mode on your android device if you want to connect via USB

  • Merged from Need a Webcam for CPA Exam - Sold out, Other Options?

    Hey everyone,

So my partner needs a webcam to do her CPA Exam from home in a couple weeks, however with the current climate these appear to be sold out everywhere without spending $300 on something ridiculous.

Are there any other alternatives anyone can assist with? For example has anyone ever used their phone as a webcam or anything? Just need something that is reliable so trying to avoid anything too dodgy that may stuff up in the middle of the exam.

If you've managed to use your phone as a webcam on a PC any software recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Or what's wrong with the built in webcam on a laptop? Can't get any reliable than that.

      • +1

Unfortunately, we're a Desktop computer family without a laptop. Might have to try and borrow one

        • +2

Hey are you in Sydney? If yes, I can loan you a Logitech one (new) but please clean it before you return it for obvious reason. It is not the latest version but should be able to do the job. I used the same model for previous exam before.

      Your phone?

    • Try Facebook marketplace. Only place I had any luck.

    • +2

Use your phone. Android has an app called Droidcam. Apple has similar apps.

    • +1

      however with the current climate

Ah, you must be referring to the trying times.

    • yeah, maybe harder to get one coz people had to resort to video conferencing for the most part for everything. but use your phone if all else fail I guess.

    • You can still find them, they are just a bit pricey

or also probably look like a potato

I'd just use my phone if I were desperate, as others mentioned.

"Get it Mon, May 4 - Tue, May 19 with FREE delivery."

Bet they don't have stock and are just hoping to get some in the next couple of weeks.

It looks like your near Melbourne. If you where a little closer or happy to travel if able to within restrictions etc I have a few - could lend one to you.

  • It's very frustrating. I have an exam I need to sit and I am not allowed to use a phone as a webcam. Starting to get a bit desperate but I have a month to figure it out…

    • Can anyone lend you theirs for that period? My wife gave her Logitech C920 to the neighbour's son to use for his uni work.

      • I'll put a call out to the neighbourhood closer to the time if the one on its way from China hasn't arrived

        • Best of luck with the exams.

    • +1

I have an exam I need to sit and I am not allowed to use a phone as a webcam.

Just wondering, how would they know what webcam you're using?

      • +1

We aren't allowed phones in the room and we will be using a mirror to show them our webcam, behind webcam, etc.

  • I think people are overlooking Dell Australia for webcams so they may still have stock. Not sure if there will be delivery delay though….
