Buy One Pint of Beer, Get One Free (When Your Chosen Pub Re-opens) @ CUB

141

Came across this and thought it's an awesome campaign by Carlton & United Breweries

CUB, in partnership with the AHA, is committed to raising up to $1 million worth of support for your local through these challenging times.

  1. Support your local by buying a beer voucher today
  2. CUB will match your support by shouting you another. Pint for Pint
  3. When your local re-opens, head in with your mates and redeem your vouchers

Don't see your local? Tell them to sign up, we will regularly add new venues.

Buying a voucher is a donation to your local at a time when they’re doing it tough. If your pub doesn’t reopen, you will not be able to claim any refund.

So the pubs which have been price gouging for years, want us to bail them out….but they can also just take the money & run???? Yeah they've been sampling too much of their own product me thinks.

Even better I searched "Melbourne" (since none of the pubs within 5kms were found). Interestingly, there's apparently only 51 in greater Melbourne (Deer park to Frankston) and apparently all pints are $12!!!!

    • $12 geez i haven't been out in awhile but i am sure they weren't $12 last time i did

so basically you are buying 2 pints per "donation"

If you go to any bar in the city you're paying at $10-$13 a pint. Easily find up to $16-18 for more expensive craft beers.

        • yeah there is the problem i don't go to the city

        • No, I'm not. I'm really not.

  • Not a deal. $12 for 2 pints, I get $5 pints happy hour all the time. And I only drink happy hour otherwise it's a $7.5 light beer for me.

This is rich, CUB want punters to bailout their publicans? Without giving us any guarantee this will be refundable if the pub doesn't open their doors again?

    The site say's CUB's contribution is $1m - where CUB's revenue is $1.8B

    To put this in context - this is only 708 kegs ($1,000,000 / $12 * 425ml pint / 50L Keg)

Lion on the other hand has pledged $10m to buy back all unused kegs from publicans across Australia! https://www.theshout.com.au/australian-hotelier/lion-to-take…

Lion is helping publicans now with their cashflow!

CUB should be ashamed of this lack luster response.
