Event Cinema Vouchers in the age of the COVID-19

Does anyone have any word from the Cinema regarding Vouchers set to expire during the Cinema shutdown?
I'll assert they'll need to be honoured with the Cinemas reopen.

I have a voucher or Gift Card that is expiring while the cinemas are closed, can I get an extension?

We will be honouring extensions for vouchers and gift cards expiring during the temporary cinema closure. Please contact our customer service team at [email protected]

  • If they even exist after all this, probably will but you never know.

    • Event is owned by Village….

      • Doesn't mean they have an oil sheikhs bank balance to survive on.

      • A company with other revenue from amusement parks, gyms and bowling. Ripe to implode IMO.

Yes, Village roadshow like just about ever other companies has had its income stopped. But it has done nothing wrong and will bounce back once this is over.

ALL companies in all fields of business are seeing huge drops. Other than supermarkets ;)

I was just saying event is part of a larger company. If Village goes under, then so does a large swarm of companies etc. Its in a much better financial state that a huge number of clothing brands for example.

      • It is not.

    • Very much doubt they will go broke. Event Hospitality and Entertainment is an ASX listed company that's been around for over 100 years, with very substantial assets. Property portfolio with fair value of $2 billion. Directors been buying shares since the COVID outbreak - not something you'd do if you thought you were going under.

I think your vouchers are safe. Can't see how they wouldn't honor them.

I suggest you look at their website where they give details on expiring Gift Cards and Vouchers.

Edit: beaten by others. Stay safe, everyone.

    • Emailed them already … I'll leave it at that and just "demand" to use them when movies are back.

I hope my free Palace tickets are good. Though I don't know if I'd want to go to a movie the moment they open again, what if someone that goes has the virus.

  • I’m torn. They’re having a very tough go, maybe cut them a break. But they’re such a rip off… I doubt they legally have to.

  • Their customer service confirmed you can now check expiry dates. Mine was extended.

    • Thanks so much for this - my evouchers were originally expired on 1/7/2020 but checking now it states 8/11/2020

      • Mine expire next month. Just checked and date hasn't changed. At the moment they are open but only showing old movies.
