ScoopOn Cake Pops and Bites

I bought this:
http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/4535/just-24-for-two-dozen-c…

I sent an email to redeem my coupon on 13-September-2011:

Hi,

I'd like to redeem my ScoopOn purchase for 2 dozen cake pops.

Details:
ScoopOn: xxx
Name: xxx
Address: xxx
Date Req: 23-September-2011

The occassion is a birthday party for a 3yo boy. Blue is better than pink :)

I got a generic reply:

Thank you for contacting Cake Occasions Pops & Bites

We will endeavour to answer your enquiry within 24 hours.

All Scoopon orders will be actioned after the 12th September as per the terms and conditions of the deal on the Scoopon website and the orders filled after the 19th September, subject to the availability of that date.

We thank you for your business,

Kind Regards,

Cake Occasions Pops & Bites

I didn't hear from them within 24 hours, so 60 hours later I sent a followup:

Hello -

I have no reply within 24 hours. I attempted to redeem my voucher on the 12th September and received this autoreply. I'd appreciate an acknowledgement whether this is going to be possible or not.

Three hours later I received back this:

Sorry for the delay, due to ongoing discussions with Scoopon in regards to Scoopon vouchers, an email will be sent out to all customers as soon as possible.

Thanks :)

Cake Occasions Pops & Bites

This doesn't sound good for ever being able to redeem the ScoopOn. I'll update back when I hear what the email that goes out says.

  • Hi xxx,

Sorry for the delay in responding, we have been unable to reply to Scoopon emails due to ongoing deliberations with Scoopon themselves. Unfortunately all money will be refunded to customers due to much confusion over this deal in regards to terms and conditions. Scoopon will be sending an email out today to explain. I do apologise and hope to hear from you in the future.

    Thanks

    Cake Occasions Pops & Bites

  • That doesn't sound good. Looks like Scoopon might have made a mistake in the terms and conditions or oversold the deal (there were more than 1000 of these sold)
It will be interesting to see what Scoopon has to say.

  • That's a shame. They look so cute.

    Hey ScoopOn,

I emailed your [email protected] and got no autoreply. I checked my spam folder, it's just not there. This is from a gmail address, so it's more likely that your Kayako eSupport installation is flawed than the message isn't getting through. Here's my headers:

In eSupport Admin, click Mail Parser > Parser Log and review any "No Assigned Queues Found for Mail Recipients" errors.

In any case, I have logged a support request using the web portal, Ticket ID: WMO-904794. I got the autoreply straight away, further points to it not being a problem with my mail client.

Anyway, please refund me and post an explanation.

It's disappointing that the deal is off, but thankfully you'll get a refund. :(

If scoopon can get out of a deal due to an "error", they should refund customers who make an error when buying vouchers.

    • +2

Good point! I hope scoop on answers this.

Exactly. Interested to hear Scoopon's take on this.

    • Sadly, it's not the same thing.

If you buy a service from a merchant, and the merchant is unable to provide said service, they (should) make restitution by refunding your money or trying to find another solution. With an apology, if they want return business. They return your money because they are at fault.

When you buy a service from a merchant, if you make an error in purchasing it, and the merchant has not done anything wrong (such as misrepresenting the service sold), then they do not have to refund or seek resolution - they are not at fault.

HOWEVER, without knowing the full story, as to what happened between ScoopOn and CP&B, I don't think this will end well for CP&B. I don't know here who was at fault - them or ScoopOn, but I'll probably keep using ScoopOn, but myself and 1046 other customers will probably never use CP&B.

  • refund got paid by the way for anyone interested.
