      Your point? That's not a negative….

  • +4

$3.50 for Lux 8 Pack is RRP

    • According to Chemist warehouse
      RRP price is $5.47

It's always been this price at Big W, it's all we ever buy

      • +2

Yes, $3.50/8 is standard price at Big W. Not a deal.

        • +5

Ive been buying it for that price for a number of years. No deal.
The only thing that has changed was the size of the soap. Used to be 10-15% more i think.
Side note - some ppl should shop more at retailers. There are always decent deals there (compared to online powerhouses like amazon. Will be sad if bigw ever closes down.)

          • @cumova: yeah, if it wasn’t for prime free delivery we wouldn’t see the adds for soap, toilet paper, coke and tissues on ozbargain as often it’s no cheaper than retail when on special.
i get it for people in rural areas where there might not be be a coles or woolies, but for city dwellers stuff is always on special one week or another.

and these amazon deals aren’t friendly to the environment ….carbon footprint print to transport a bottle of soap and the packing box and then the problem of recycling the box ……

            • +1

@garage sale: Carbon footprint is the nearly the same.

MANUFACTURER > WAREHOUSE > STORE > You drive to the store, purchase and drive back home

MANUFACTURER > AMAZON WAREHOUSE > COURIER

              • @Suspect420: who drives to supermarket and looks for parking spot just to buy a bar of soap or box of tissues , you usually get other stuff also like bread or milk ,etc unless you have an awful lot of spare time and don’t pay for petrol ….

and amazon delivers in a box which needs to be recycles or land filled, supermarket you use own bag …

                • @garage sale: Who orders one bar of soap on Amazon? Same argument can be had. I do agree with you though, if someone was ordering item by item it will have a larger carbon footprint - marginal.

Regardless your delivery driver will likely be dropping off parcels in the same area. Whether they stop for an additional 2 mins does not change the carbon footprint.

What needs changing is the way in which we consume. Packaging of the products for a start. Most inks are toxic and leech into the environment…

I'm very much an environmentalist and a believer in climate change. It's actually very logical. I do like calling a spade a spade, and the carbon footprint difference you mentioned is negligible.

any idea as to why soap bars are so tiny here
The lux bars I buy overseas are 175gm
the 90 gm ones easily slip out of my paws

    • +1

yeah small bars of soap wear down too quick for shower use and you end up with the useless tiny bit left, but are handy for hand basins , especially for kids washing hands though liquid soap seems to be the thing now for hand basins although pricier than bar soap.

    • They are more for jail use

  • $3.25 @ RejectShop.

But the Palmolive 10 pack of 90g is cheaper and better value @ Kmart for $4.

Not as good value as the $2.30 Essentials 8 pack @ Woolies or the $2.29 8 pack @ Aldi. But they're ALL GONE ffs.

    • +1

yeah, working from home i still need to shower sometimes and the shortage of palmolive gold is sad ……what did people do before corona , not shower or wash and they do now and that is why we have soap shortage …..?

      • Heaps of gold at kmart
