Why isn't it sold out? Something is wrong 🦃

    • Likely money all sitting on TP… These days TP pricing very inelastic.

    • Agree. I can't believe my luck.

  • -3

Is it that much better than this? This works out way cheaper in the long run.

    This or OMO Ultimate?

    • +6

I have been an OMO'er for life and used to use this for years, but then switched to ultimate just because. I think it's 99.9% the same, rate them both highly.

Interestingly, Omo Ultimate in a Choice test, came third, and the top-performer was $4 Coles Ultra powder.

However, and I love talking about detergent way too much as you may have noticed, OzBargains arch Nemesis, Kath Armstrong of CheapSkates Australia was spruiking her home-made detergent for nearly a decade on ACA, at only a few cents per wash. About 3 years ago in ACA's ultimate detergent show-down, Kath's product was compared to as effective as washing in water alone, and she was never seen on ACA again, leaving in disgrace. NOTE: Leaving a disgraceful show like ACA in disgrace is the ultimate slap-down.

If you read the Ultimate instructions they suggest to use more than the ordinary one, 1/2 scoop more. Is maybe for this that washes ‘better’?

The one thing I don't get is, why do OMO and all the brands STILL recommend using so much powder? In 2008, when concentrates all became ultra-concentrates, doubling performance for the same amount of powder, the recommendations didn't change as to how much to use. It's a little like when shampoo/conditioner manufacturers ask you to repeat the process so you use up twice as much - it doesn't do any better.

Basically, and any washing machine mechanic and testing organisations will tell you, use half a scoop on normal loads and a full scoop on heavily-soiled loads. Save money, save your washing machine from residue/gunk & get 99% of the same quality of wash.

FYI: Cussons, Colgate & Unilever were in a cartel arrangement amongst themselves to rip consumers off for nearly a decade, they need to wash themselves to remove the dirt. lol

Coles ultra powder might be the top-performer but has overpowering smell even without the box being open.

      • I like OMO but what about Aldi brand which is generally cheaper.

Can’t find a front load powder that actually makes my clothes smell freshly washed. Meanwhile I come across people walking around like they’re made out of washing detergent

    • +2

I find the people who walk around smelling so nice also use fabric softener…

      • +1

More often than not the rinse in the machine is not doing a good job (maybe too big load) and the perfumed detergent stays on clothes

    • +1

Try using fabric softener if you don't already. My clothes always have a strong scent after washing.

      • I’ve used fabric softener and they do make clothes smell better indeed but ruin them overtime. None that I’ve tried smell like freshly washed clothes/washing detergent though, they all smell like flowers or something sweet.

    • +1

You'll get that if you put tons in washing, like I've seen a friend doing it. She was putting 10x the recommended amount, not using the original scoop, but a lot bigger plastic cup.

    • It's the fabric softener.

  • liquid is better than powder

  • This post is a guaranteed 100% hand sanitiser free zone.

  • I use both Omo Sensitive and Cold Power Sensitive, and normally buy whichever is on sale at the supermarket. At the moment as well as the Omo OP, Amazon has Cold Power Sensitive for $10/2kg one off, or $9/2kg subscribe and save. I don’t need to make a choice this time, so I bought 1 of each! Ahhh, it’s the little things in life…

Not as effective as normal variety.

Some people are allergic to the dyes and perfumes which are put in cleaning products which come in contact with the skin; for them, laundry powders, deodorants, shampoos and soaps, etc., can cause painful rashes to break out.

      • +1

… or even if you're not allergic, the clown-barf stench of laundry done with many detergents is awful.

Tip for those playing at home : the objective of cleaning is to remove smell not add it; clean has no smell.

  • Yes I love buying from Amazon, but Aldi Trimat advanced way better and cheaper.

    • Good luck finding laundry powder, my local Coles and Aldi have had bare shelves for weeks on laundry products.

      • Really? What state? We accidentally, luckily, loaded up on 3 boxes from Aldi by shopping separately and not communicating when this all began. If that's the case for you then Amazon is always a great choice.

Thanks, I just shipped some to my Mum who is recently retired and self isolating.

  • 2kg is OOS. 5kg is still available.
