[NSW, VIC] Free Access to Adobe Creative Cloud Software for NSW Public School Students

1050

People with .edu emails can get Adobe products, i.e. All of Creative Cloud, as well as other stuff here. This is just a reminder, this has been here for quite a bit now I think.

Trying with Uni edu email. Doesn't seem to work for me.
Maybe only for Tafe and Government High Schools?

    • The adobe.onthehub.com works for the ANU and costs $13.99/yr

      • How do you get that? When I check the onthehub page, it says 20 usd per month?

        • using a anu.edu email address.

          • @Fred: Hi Fred, just tried still shows 20USD. Am I wrong steps? I cannot see any registration link on adobe.onthehub.com .So I registered on the estore.onthehub.com (with ANU email). But the account can be only use in estore.onthehub.com and price still$35aud /month, cant login in on the adobe.onthehub.com

            • @hsia: Send me a message.

              • @Fred: @Fred is this still a deal for anu? I used to access but can't find the cheap annual option anymore.

              • @Fred: Is this still available, I can't work out how to get it?

              • @Fred: keen also! I got an ANU email - are you able to assist @Fred?

            • @hsia: Did you work this out? I can't make it work.

  • Secondary only?

    • Primary as well

      • -4

Primary students don’t have email addresses

        • +3

All NSW government students including K-6 have an email account. @education.nsw.gov.au

          • -7

@neill: Most kinder students can’t type on a keyboard

            • +1

@jv: maybe technically correct, they tend to use more touchscreen keyboards in kindergarten these days.

            • @jv: They learn typing from year 1 already dude, from year 2 they even do coding, you’re so way behind what kids learn and do this day.

From K grade every student has an email address and it’s Google Mail if you wonder.

              • -2

                @sillyguy:

From K grade every student has an email address

                Why?

                • @jv: For teachers to communicate with students. Lots of primary kids now are receiving assignments and notifications via email.

If adults can use emails for work why cant kids use for study? Are u being ageist here?

                  • -1

                    @sillyguy:

For teachers to communicate with students

Kinders are all open in Vic. There is no remote learning being done.

                    • @jv: I occasionally got assignment details etc by email over 10 years ago. The email was also used to log in to the school intranet etc.

I'm sure schools are FAR more tech savvy today. It's got nothing to do with remote learning.

  • +1

Oh man I really wish VIC had this 😭

  • +1

This is only for school kids attending public schools

    • -1

Some private schools have it too

      • Yeah private have it if the school has paid for the licensing for each student.

  • How does the Adobe cloud work since it's not a perpetual licence?
It expires once the student graduated from the school?

    • +1

It needs to be renewed every twelve months.

      • Thanks :)

  • How about WA student?

    • +4

      Which one?

      • +3

The one whose first language doesn’t have plurality.

  • +6

Vic has this as well. Need to install it via the Edustar portal (will also need Edupass credentials - your @schools.edu.au address).

    • Hi thewarden, we are in Vic and can't get it working. Can you give more instructions please?

  • Just wondering do primary school kids actually use illustrator and photoshop?

    • I've used Photoshop with Year 5 & 6 students. Planning on Illustrator this year, if we return in time for some laser cutting projects.

  • +3

DoE staff also have this, but need to pay $13.99 a year + GST

    https://doe-nsw.onthehub.com/

  • Nothing like that for SA students or staff… best we've got is Office 365 (and we've only just rolled that out to all staff and students).

  • QLD don't have this. It's merely a dream up here.

    • +1

My daughters high school has access to adobe products costs me $25 a year which is good for photoshop and illustrator not sure if it’s dependent on the school or if it’s an education dept thing might be worth asking about though

      • +3

Yep, the school pays for the license and basically recoups the money via a fee. (I have a great understanding of how this works for EQ schools.😉)
Sadly, it's not free for every student though like NSW and Victoria.

        • -2

In Vic, the primary school kids don’t have emails, or at least many schools don’t issue them

          • @jv: Really, that's terrible if true!

        • If the EQ school is charging $25, they are making a profit. The cost to the school is $9.90 ex GST per user per year.

          • -1

@blamesociety: This only changed in February this year and they were late getting the details to schools about how it would all work. Up until then $25 was the rate.
            Source: I'm a teacher :)

            • +2

@djmatt24: The pricing was released to schools on 04/12/19 by Data#3. Before that, the site licence was $25 per staffing FTE for the design and web package, and the complete package was $53 per FTE. The BYOx design and web package was free, and complete was $25. If schools were charging $25 to students to install on BYOx, then fair play. If they were charging $25 for the privilege of using it at school, they were making a profit. If they are still charging $25 now, they are making a profit. Source: I'm the Head of IT in an EQ school.

  • Oh… Not for Uni student?

    • UQ has this for free at the moment for all students because of covid19, couldn't figure out how to get it though but didn't try that hard

Maybe worth getting a .edu domain name. Looks like they cost a bit at USD160 a year. Anyone know the process? Probably will be too many headaches and costs will make it not worth it.

    • +2

If you could even create one you would have to sign a deal with adobe to provide members of your domain with access. I believe the licenses are paid for upfront at $25/yr and there is no doubt a minimum order number. If you have plans on reselling these they would probably catch you out and you would be spending in the red for quite some time before you get enough people to buy through you.

    • +1

      Can’t do it

.edu is reserved through the domain name registration process

    • edu.au domains cost $80 for 2 years. You need an ABN and the process is manually verified to see if you are eligible.

  • +1

Important to note that access to this is for edu use only and must not be used for work that generates revenue for profit.

    • Perhaps, but pretty hard to enforce in most instances.

  • PSA: This link says it's $20pa for NT students and $100pa for NT staff
    http://educationnt.net/adobe/adobecc.pdf

    • +1

Schools should be able to get this cheaper, ie $8 and $32 student/staff.

Depends if they have a licensing agreement or not

  • Anyone know how to get for uni emails?

    • Go to a uni that gives you free Adobe Creative Cloud

    • Try simply putting your email into Adobe sign in and see if they have enterprise login setup

      RMIT has

  • Thanks mate.

  • Does anyone know if the $5.95 Extended Access Guarantee is useful to upgrade? Thanks.

  • Thanks OP, got it for $14 + gst for 12 months under staff email. Crazy good value, Adobe Cloud sub is like $1000 year normal price.

  • +3

Just tried to redeem Creative Cloud with my child's public school email account. Access was denied when I entered the date of birth as the product can't be provided to someone under 13 without parental consent. I don't know where to indicate parental consent is given.

  • -1

this is a bit of a stretch but does it work if you still have access to your uni email?

  • Anyone know how I can get my sons email password? He goes to a public school in NSW. He's in year 1. I don't think he has used it before, however it would have it. I also an cautious about asking the school what it is so I can take advantange of his software lol. But if it comes to that, I guess that's the only option. Not sure if there he a first time log in procedure or anything.

    • Have you tried asking your son what the password is?

      • yeah he had no idea. ill call the DET support tomorrow and ask how to get in.

        • Did this work out? My niece is in kindergarden and I am looking to ask.

  • No longer avaliable?

    • If you go to creativecloud.Adobe.com and sign in with your school account, you can get the same thing now.

      • Tried this with both my children's NSW Education logins and received the message "We couldn't find an account with that email address."

Has anyone had success with this new method?

  • I managed to successfully access and use Adobe CC through my child's login for most of this year, but now Adobe shows that Creative Cloud is not part of my child's plan - it no longer shows as part of the plan on Adobe.com even though the plan is listed as 'Adobe for Enterprise, NSW DoE - STUDENT2'. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just an end of year thing that restarts in the new year? My child will continue in a NSW Public School for 2022.

    • +1

      Mine stopped working today too.

    • +1

Same, my Son's subscription stopped yesterday. Only the free apps are working now.
'Adobe for Enterprise, NSW DoE - STUDENT1'

    • +1

Yup, same thing happened to my daughter's PC !
Some CC apps are gone, most notably Acrobat !

I tried playing around a bit, got to this page: https://creativecloud.adobe.com/cc/?x-product=CCHome&x-produ…, logged in, and top right hand side corner, under your name, click on Manage Account > Reinstall older apps.

      This link should open up:
      https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/download-availab…

It should have 2020 versions and Help on how to install. But when I open desktop Creative Cloud, I can only see version 21 of Acrobat. :(

      Edit: Primary school student
      NSW DoE - STUDENT1

      • sorry, so do older versions work or not?

    • yep, stopped working for my high school son today…we couldn't find a workaround. Hope he will be able to continue to use the other apps, he's elected multimedia for the coming year

  • May 2024 Update: This is no-longer a free-for all in NSW and now requires your child's school/teacher to grant them access based on their subject matter.

  • Also available for any SA students attending classes which require it, including anyone enrolled in online schools.
