Is there a historical price tracker for booze like isthereanydeal for PC games? I feel the need to splurge on something nice but I am not sure JW Black is really where I am wanting to go.
However the excise tax is $34.35 on a 1L, 40% bottle and GST is $4.09 on a $45 bottle, so about $7.65 of this is actually making this, bottling it, shipping it over from Scotland and profit for the store/producer. So it's not ever going to get much cheaper without a change to the tax system.
However this isn't "something nice" this is "something cheap and tolerable when mixed with coke".
Yeah, this was definitely in the realm of "do I buy this and get some coke", not "I really appreciate a fine JW Black and a few drops of water would allow me to stare forlornly into the fire".
My boss and her husband are both Scottish and have recommended Highland Park or Glenkinchie so time to do a bit of research so I can do the latter with something much nicer.
If you're after a great smooth scotch, the Chivas 18 for $80.10 after the coupon is a great price. Yes it's a blend and it's probably not the cheapest it's ever been but it's rather delicious and great for that price range.
I'm definitely not one to pick on the "do I buy this and get some coke", I've been smashing down wild turkey and coke like there's no tomorrow lately. Because at this point, maybe there won't be.

ive only used shopback and they have been pretty good with tracking my purchases - as long as i first log in to their site and then navigate to first choice liquor (for example) from the link on the shopback site

I have a bottle of Ardberg and it's seriously like drinking burnt firewood. Way too strong on the peat for my liking..
@Maz78: Is Johnnie black very peaty? I don't like the peat taste at all. Prefer a smoother whisky. My favourite is gentleman jack as a mixer and stock up when it's a good price. Although I know that isn't the same thing as a scotch lol
@harthagan: Black Label does have some peatiness to it.
If you're not a fan of that and you're fond of American Whiskey, and would like to delve into scotch, I'd recommend you go for a Speyside whiskey to start with. Something entry level but still good would be Monkey Shoulder.@harthagan: Johnnie Black has nothing on Ardberg. You'll be fine with Johnnie Black.
People get quite wanky with their scotch… But Ardberg is next level. It smells like a campfire when you open it, and tastes like one too. LOL@Maz78: I had a bottle of lagavulin or something and it was def too peaty for my liking. Was barely drinkable, so I'm guessing peat is not suitable for my sensitive palate lol!
@harthagan: I'm with you mate. There are plenty of excellent single and blended whiskies out there. Just try them out. :)

I am only starting to stock up on whisky ( to be honest if i buy the above deal it would be first time purchase)My question is once i open the bottle do i need to finish in 2-3 day like wine? Does the storage temperature matters say in summer when it reaches 38+ is it OK in a pantry shelf?

Apparently there is a limit on the number of bottles you can walk out of the store with daily. Store rep told me I'd need to pick up my 12 bottles over a 6 day period. I need a total of 45 bottles for my wedding next year.
After doing a long Johnnie walk, I find green is now the lowest I can go but I do switch to back after a few because it starts tasting the same.

Didn't receive SMS so I contacted customer service and they told me it was under investigation due to a pricing error on the Johnny Black. They mentioned something about it being honered but didn't quite catch it. Decided to wait for the outcome of the investigation…fingers crossed.

Still hadn't received any contact about my order so I called them. They told me my order was cancelled the same day and refund issued Monday. Paid with Paypal haven't seen the refund yet. Very annoyed about the lack of communication.

Wow took them so long. Their management is very poor.
I collected my 3 bottles (2 from one account and one from a different account)
2 hours later they emailed me saying they are refunding me for one bottle. ( I did get my refund back :) )Basically i got 3 bottles for the price of 2.
I received mine. Purchases some brandy and wine they had on special and got the free delivery. Took a lot longer than it should have. However with the discount it was worth it. Pity is JW black is not much better than red. But for the price.
