Coles Gift Cards via ShopBack or ??

Please excuse this “mature aged“ member.
My young’uns have steered me towards buying my groceries from Cole online rather than physically visit the shop. I get it (health aspects) and am going with their recommendations.
However, being a real Tight A##e, I’m curious to know whether to buy Coles Gift Cards with 5% discount ( $100 card costs me $95) via places like ShopBack or just buy directLy from Cole online and not use gift cards. How do both ways impact on my FlyBuy points?
Again, enormous apologies for being an ignoramous Old F##t.

  • I could be wrong and if I am there’s plenty geniuses on here that are devoted to picking up on any errors, that will correct me but I think you can only buy Woolworths egift cards on cashrewards and ShopBack.

You can get Coles gift cards from other places but usually they are at a lesser discount or there is some other deterrent like a delay in issuance.

I buy Woolworths wish e gift cards every week from cash rewards, delivered within 5 mins.
I prefer Woolworths, Coles always seems dirty to me.

Buying online is a probably a good idea for you.
I go in store and finger that keypad to punch in all the gift card numbers. That index finger deffo gets the Rona on it. I used to just use the thumbs before but trying to minimise risk now

Don't forget to shop around. The delivery fee is in part to discourage people from shopping around.

    • they have stopped it, previously it was 4% discount for Coles

      • I think it's temporary, thanks for the heads up.

Can confirm, I just checked app and it says, "Due to an issue with the provider, Coles eGift Cards are currently unavailable".

They had limited the total value of Coles giftcards which could be purchased to a certain value in last month.

Then I got this in email,
"Unfortunately, due to supply issues, Coles eGift cards will no longer be available to purchase from Suncorp Benefits from 31 March 2020*. But rest assured you can still use any Coles eGift cards you have already purchased."

No more discounted Coles giftcards for me :(

          • @bazingaa: Damn, one of the main reasons I have the account with $1 in it :)

Thanks for the heads up, will just use the Suncorp account for Uber gift cards when they don't have them on special at Coles/Woolworths.

            @bazingaa: Another site has this:

            "NB - Coles Gift Cards

Coles management are currently re-evaluating Coles discount gift cards being sold via member groups right across the country. We have been asked by Coles to remove the Coles cards from the website until further notice. There is not much we can do about this however we certainly putting forward a good case to have them return so our members can still receive the benefits. With a bit of luck this will happen sooner than later."

  • Thanks everyone for your remarks. Most appreciated.

Last time I checked Coles online don't accept gift cards.

      oh you are right

      Redemption
The Coles Gift Card is redeemable at Coles Supermarkets and Coles Central stores nationwide.

Coles Gift Cards are not redeemable on Coles Online or at Coles Express or Liquorland.

Not redeemable for cash or payments of credit or store accounts. Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards. This card will expire 4 years from the date of issue.

the OP might be better off shopping at woolworths online

  • if you are a customer of agl 5% off max $500/month

    • do they charge a credit card fee?

Thanks all and sundry. My young’uns reminded me, gracefully, that I was on the wrong track, just as my fellow OB’ers have so politely informed me. Mea culpa, I had Woollies 5% discount in mind, but due to DOB (date of birth) disease I got confused.
A million votes of thanks, everyone.

You can get priority assistance special delivery times if you register with Woolworths online and provide your seniors or other eligible card number. My 1st delivery was free with spend over $100.00, dont know if they still doing that.

      • good idea, I'll let some family friends know!thanks

Coles online is pretty poor. You cannot use gift cards or even Flybuys points. When purchasing from Target online you can do both. Just made my first online order yesterday, not sure if 1st order of over $100 is free as I ordered $200. One month ago a purchase over $150 was free and if you picked an 8 hour window it was free. Now only if you purchase over $200 otherwise $12. Why does it cost more to deliver now than 1 month ago and to those from "…our most vulnerable communities…" ? Also they have suspended their prepaid discounted programs. Woolworths while you can use GC and, I think rewards points, it will cost you $300 in goods to get a free delivery. Since both of the stores are offering delivery to special groups only, most of the categories are for people who are less likely to place large orders.
